Job summary

Quality Foods in Bangalore seeks an experienced R&D FoodTechnologist for meat products to drive new pork-based offerings, optimize formulations, and ensure scale-up to manufacturing.

You will work on shelf-life studies, product trials, and compliance with HACCP, GMP, and FSSAI, collaborating with production and QC teams to deliver safe, high-quality frozen meat products. Bachelor's or Master's in Food Technology or related field preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Chemistry, Meat Technology, Meat Science, or related field.
• Experience in processed meat product development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products, including pork sausages, ham, nuggets, bacon, salami, and other processed meat products.
• Create and optimise product formulations, including seasonings, marinades, binders, and other permitted ingredients.
• Conduct product trials and evaluate taste, texture, colour, consistency, and overall quality.
• Perform shelf-life studies and coordinate microbiological and chemical testing.
• Improve existing recipes to enhance product quality, consistency, and cost efficiency.
• Establish SOPs for product preparation and processing.
• Work with production and quality-control teams to scale up formulations for commercial manufacturing.
• Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations and food safety standards.
• Maintain records of formulations, trials, testing results, and product specifications.
• Research market trends and develop innovative products to meet customer requirements.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and innovative R&D professional with experience in food technology, meat processing, or food science to develop new pork-based products and improve existing formulations. The candidate will be responsible for product development, ingredient selection, laboratory testing, shelf-life studies, and transferring successful formulations to commercial-scale production.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop new products, including pork sausages, ham, nuggets, bacon, salami, and other processed meat products.
• Create and optimise product formulations, including seasonings, marinades, binders, and other permitted ingredients.
• Conduct product trials and evaluate taste, texture, colour, consistency, and overall quality.
• Perform shelf-life studies and coordinate microbiological and chemical testing.

• Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for product preparation and processing.
• Work closely with the production and quality-control teams to scale up formulations for commercial manufacturing.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Chemistry, Meat Technology, Meat Science, or a related field.
• Candidates with relevant experience in processed meat product development will be preferred.

Experience

• Experience in R&D for processed meat products is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in developing sausages, ham, nuggets, bacon, or similar products will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of food ingredients, additives, preservatives, shelf-life validation, and frozen food processing is desirable.
• Experience in commercial-scale product development and manufacturing is preferred.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of meat product formulation and processing.
• Practical experience in product trials and formulation optimisation.
• Understanding of food safety, HACCP, GMP, and FSSAI requirements.
• Knowledge of frozen storage, cold-chain management, and shelf-life testing.
