Job summary

Sungrow Asia Pacific is seeking an experienced Product Application Engineer / Technical SME to support technical application, system design, and product positioning for Central/String Inverters, PCS, and BESS solutions.

You will collaborate with customers, EPCs, consultants, utilities, Sales, R&D, and Project teams on technically compliant, optimized, and commercially competitive solutions for utility-scale and commercial/industrial projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, EEE or Power System.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in Solar Inverters, PCS/BESS, power electronics, EPC, system engineering, or related renewable-energy industries.
• Experience in utility-scale solar/BESS projects and customer/consultant technical interfaces preferred.
• Knowledge of simulation (PSSE and PSCAD) is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present and defend technical solutions effectively.

Responsibilities

• Understand customer/project requirements and recommend inverter/PCS solutions.
• Perform sizing, system configuration, DC/AC ratio, and derating calculations.
• Evaluate application requirements considering site conditions.
• Support integration of inverters/PCS with PV modules, transformers, MV systems, BESS, EMS, SCADA, and grid protection systems.
• Review SLDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
• Lead/participate in technical meetings, presentations, and technical negotiations.
• Provide technical support to Sales during pre-sales and project development cycle.
• Gather customer/market requirements for Product Management and R&D.
• Identify product capability gaps and support development of application-specific solutions.
• Support new product introduction and competitor analysis.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Product Application Engineer / Technical Subject Matter Expert to support the technical application, system design, product positioning, and engineering of Central/String Inverters, PCS, and BESS solutions. The role will work closely with customers, EPCs, consultants, utilities, Sales, R&D, Engineering, Service, and Project teams to develop technically compliant, optimized, and commercially competitive solutions for utility-scale and C&I projects.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Understand customer/project requirements and recommend suitable inverter/PCS solutions.
• Perform product selection, sizing, system configuration, DC/AC ratio, voltage/current assessment, loading, and derating calculations.
• Evaluate application requirements considering ambient temperature, altitude, humidity, installation configuration, and site conditions.
• Support integration of inverters/PCS with PV modules, transformers, MV systems, SCBs, BESS, EMS, SCADA, PPC, and grid protection systems.
• Review and interpret SLDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and system architectures.
• Perform technical assessments including transformer sizing/impedance, short-circuit calculations, maximum DC voltage/current, and system-level electrical requirements.
• Act as the technical interface for customers, EPCs, utilities, and other stakeholders.
• Review tenders/RFPs, technical specifications, and prepare compliance requirements and identify deviations.
• Prepare technical offers, compliance matrices, clarifications, deviations, and solution proposals.
• Lead/participate in technical meetings, presentations, product demonstrations, and technical negotiations.
• Provide technical support to Sales throughout the pre-sales and project development cycle.

Product & Market Development

• Gather customer/market requirements and translate them into actionable inputs for Product Management and R&D.
• Identify product capability gaps and support development of application-specific solutions.
• Support new product introduction, product benchmarking, and competitor technical analysis.
• Support resolution of complex technical/application issues and disseminate learnings across relevant teams.

3. Required Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Solar PV Inverters, Central/String Inverters, PCS and BESS.
• Good understanding of power electronics, inverter topologies, and grid-connected power conversion systems.
• Knowledge of power transformers, MV/HV systems, switchgear, protection, cables, SPD, grounding/earthing, and electrical safety.
• Ability to understand and evaluate grid integration, system configuration, and electrical performance requirements.
• Proficiency in interpreting and preparing SLDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.

4. Qualification & Experience
