Job summary

Eaton in Pune, India seeks an experienced electrical engineer to lead high power inverter design and power electronics development. You will own end‑to‑end development, from concept through validation, emphasizing energy efficiency, reliability, and safety while aligning with ASPICE and IATF 16949 standards.

The role requires a strong background in HV electronics, system architecture, and hands‑on proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and PSpice.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Electrical/Power Electronics.
• 6+ years of industry experience with HV DC-AC inverter power electronics engineering.
• Proven track record in engineering research, analysis and product design.

Responsibilities

• Develop high power density product designs from end‑to‑end using electrical, power electronics and hardware design.
• Optimize designs for energy efficiency and performance using modeling or simulation tools.
• Lead inverter topology, HV gate drivers, isolation design and protection concepts.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, reliability and cost targets.
• Prepare and maintain product specifications and functional specs for inverter solutions.

Job description

• Develops high power density product designs involving electrical / power electronics / hardware design and interface designs from End-to-end. Optimize design for energy efficiency and various performance strategies using physical modeling or simulation tools
• Campions innovative solutions for High power inverter design, Converter topologies, Switching methods and control, HV gate driver, isolation design and HV protection; Filters and magnetics design and solid-state device selection;
• Leads project level deliverables in High-Speed Communication Circuits, and Digital and Analog Controls, I/O Interface Circuits and Control Hardware.
• Develops products to comply performance, functional safety, reliability and cost requirements.
• Writes and maintains product specifications and functional specifications of design solutions for inverter product to meet performance, functional safety and reliability.
• Develops engineering tools and continuously improves operational efficiency.
• Evaluates alternative design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, cost and schedule. Interface with products teams in EIIC and global locations; act as the liaison for program associated with associated simulation technologies
• Monitors progress and achievements on projects, ensure technical reviews and expert resolution of issues and monitor integration of work.
• Executes projects as per recommendations and in compliance with ASPICE and IATF 16949
• Deploys FMEA/FMEDA process to enhance design robustness. Contribute to continued enhancement of architecture to support additional product features.Lead early‑stage concept generation for MV transformers (1‑phase and 3‑phase), including electrical, power electronics, mechanical, thermal, controls, and sensing aspects.
• Develop system architectures and trade studies (architecture matrices, feasibility assessments, down‑selection frameworks).

Qualifications

• B-Tech/BE / ME/Mtech
• Masters in Electrical / Power Electronics engineering with industry experience of over 6 years and proven track record in engineering research / analysis / product design in HV DC-AC inverter Power electronics.
• 6+ Years of experience

Skills

• Experience in new product development projects and in the field of power electronics.
• Knowledge of quality standards and certifications (IATF 16949, ISO9001, ISO14001)
• Excellent mastery of FMEA method for the design of new products
• Experience in hybrid / vehicle electrification
• Experience in ISO 26262 functional safety processes.
• Experience in following tools - MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice/ LT Spice/ Simetrix, PSIM/SABER.

Preferred / Additional Specialized Knowledge

• Experience in pulsed power, capacitor chargers, electromagnetics, microelectronics, and thermal design is a plus.
• Experience in Analyzing and simulating power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics. Leverages use of Hardware in the Loop simulation systems..
• Experience in Validation, Verification and Certification of Auto / Electrical domain
• Knowledge of Reliability for Embedded system Design.
• Understanding of DFSS tools like FMEA, FMECA, Monte Carlo Analysis etc
