Job summary

Valmet is seeking a Procurement Engineer based in Pune, India, reporting to the Senior Manager, Packaging and Tissue Procurement Asia Pacific (Global Supply). The role focuses on sourcing and project procurement aligned with supply plans.

You will create cost-efficient supply plans, administer POs, negotiate with suppliers, and monitor budgets while driving on-time delivery and cost competitiveness. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 3–5 years of relevant procurement experience.
• Strong communication and English language skills; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Create a total cost-efficient supply plan covering all external spend within the assigned project.
• Ensure execution of the supply plan according to project schedule and budget.
• Estimate the cost of fabricated, machined, casted components.
• Administer purchase orders, monitor budgets and invoicing.
• Manage stakeholders and report supply plan status to project management.
• Search and approve potential suppliers and develop capacity plans for major categories.
• Create negotiation strategy, negotiate with suppliers and issue contracts/POs.
• Expedite ongoing orders by visiting supplier works and resolving challenges.
• Analyze market prices and manage total cost of ownership for products and services.
• Communicate contracts/frame agreements with key stakeholders.
• Stay updated on category strategies affecting responsibility area.
• Meet functional KPIs such as on-time delivery, quality and cost competitiveness.

We are looking for “Procurement Engineer” to be based in Pune, India. This position reports to “Senior Manager, Packaging and Tissue Procurement Asia Pacific (Global Supply)”. In this position you will have an opportunity to Sourcing and Project Procurement in accordance with the supply plans.

In this position, you will be required to,

• Create a total cost-efficient supply plan covering all external spend within the assigned project by utilizing established category strategies while securing all customer needs.
• Ensure execution of established supply plan according to project schedule and within project budget.
• Estimate the cost of fabricated, machined, casted, etc. components.
• Administer purchase orders, monitoring budgets and invoicing
• Manage stakeholders, by involving them and reporting supply plan status to project management.
• Search and approve potential suppliers & develop the capacity plan for major volumetric categories.
• Create negotiation strategy, execute supplier negotiations and create contracts/purchase orders.
• Expediting ongoing orders by visiting supplier works periodically, understanding and highlighting challenges and working towards problem-solving
• Analyze the market prices of product & components and manage the total cost of ownership for product & services.
• Communicate contracts/ frame agreements content with key stakeholders.
• Stay updated on category strategies affecting area of responsibility.
• Meet Functional KPI’s such as On-time delivery, quality & cost competitiveness.

To Succeed This Role, You Will Need

• Bachelor / Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3~5 years of relevant experience in relevant field.
• Understand engineering basics including engineering drawing study.
• Proactive mindset.
• Knowledge and interest in reading and understanding drawings.
• Ability to troubleshoot welding issues and find solutions.
• Good communication skills.
• English language, written and spoken, is mandatory.
• Willingness for travelling.
