Job summary

Valmet in Chennai, India, is seeking a Project Manager for PEC PEx Project Management to lead and deliver complex customer delivery projects on time, within budget and to quality standards.

You will coordinate cross‑functional teams across global EPC/EPS projects, manage risks and costs, and maintain strong customer relationships while upholding Valmet’s values and governance.

Qualifications

• Qualification: Relevant University Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
• Experience: 8–12+ years in project management for global EPC/EPS projects.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Financial acumen with ability to manage budgets and claims.
• Fluent in English; willingness to travel as required.

Project Manager – PEC PEx Project Management

Primary Location: Chennai, India

Valmet´s Pulp, Energy and Circularity business area provides technologies and solutions for pulp and energy production and biomass conversion. The pulp projects range from process equipment deliveries to complete pulp mills. Our energy solutions include e.g. biomass-based energy boilers and rebuilds. As ‘Project Manager, Project Management’, you are responsible for “Lead and manage projects that resolve identified business needs within agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.”

You Are Responsible For

• Accountable for planning, organizing, leading, controlling and managing resources to meet the contractual requirements and financial objectives defined by management of customer delivery projects
• Typically manages customer delivery projects which are with a duration of over 12 months or manages several projects concurrently with a shorter duration and have a moderate impact on business results. These are primarily EPC projects or EPS projects
• Accountable for controlling and minimizing the risks and cost uncertainty to ensure predictability of project financial results. Estimating financial outcomes of projects as well as ensuring that financial results meet the targets.
• Development and implementation of procedures, compliance and data maintenance according to the Project Management function's operative objectives.
• Represent Valmet in the customer interface. Ensure good customer relationship while safeguarding Valmet’s interests.
• Representation and accurate reporting in PEC level reporting and discussions.
• Oversee resourcing of projects and drive forward-looking project management within the project team.
• Nurture accountability, ownership and commitment of project team members
• Enforce HSE procedures and practices and Quality Management system in Project execution
• Ensure adherence to company’s Values, Business principles and Code of Conduct

Support sales with project and contract related matters as defined by the business process. Maintain and improve customer relationship during project execution

Expectations

• Qualification: Relevant University Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree.
• Experience: Typical minimum relevant experience required for this job 8-12 years
• Good project management skill in executing projects globally
• Solid leadership and team management skills
• Good influencing and interpersonal skills with ability to drive change.
• Good expertise and experience in EPC/EPS global projects execution in multinational and matrix organization.
• Financial mindset, contract and claim management skills
• Effective communication and presentation skills in English
• Travel according to business needs
