We are looking for an experienced and proactive Supply Chain Professional (NPI / Product Development) to manage end-to-end supply chain execution during early design, prototyping, and mass-production ramp-up phases. The role will bridge Engineering, Product Design, Contract Manufacturers (CMs), and strategic component suppliers. Key ownership areas include sourcing custom and off-the-shelf components, BOM management, lead-time risk mitigation, Design for Supply Chain (DFSC), and a seamless transition from Engineering Verification Test (EVT) through Mass Production (MP).
Key Responsibilities
NPI & Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration
- Partner with Hardware, Mechanical, Firmware, and Design teams during early architecture phases to guide component selection based on cost, lead time, and lifecycle availability.
- Drive Design for Supply Chain (DFSC) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) inputs with R&D to minimize single-source risks and long-lead bottlenecks.
- Manage BOM maturity across all build stages: Prototype, EVT, DVT (Design Verification Test), and PVT (Production Verification Test).
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, qualify, and negotiate with domestic and international component vendors, fabrication shops, tooling partners, and contract manufacturers (CM/EMS).
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs (Minimum Order Quantities), delivery lead times, payment terms, and tooling amortisation schedules.
- Implement dual-sourcing and risk-mitigation strategies for high-risk, custom, or critical-path parts.
Procurement, Planning & Ramp Execution
- Own material readiness tracking; execute Purchase Orders (POs) and expedite deliveries to meet aggressive prototype build and pilot run deadlines.
- Lead production hand-off and ramp readiness reviews with contract manufacturers, ensuring clear-to-build (CTB) status for every build event.
- Collaborate with demand planning teams to build short- and long-term forecasts and safety stock buffers for mass production.
Quality, Logistics & Cost Optimisation
- Drive continuous product cost-down initiatives through Value Engineering (VAVE), volume-tier negotiations, and alternate-part qualifications.
- Coordinate international and domestic freight, customs clearance, Harmonized System (HS) code classifications, and import/export compliance.
- Work with Quality Engineering to manage supplier non-conformance, corrective actions (CAPA/8D), and incoming quality control (IQC) procedures.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field.
Experience:
3–6 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, or technical procurement within a product development, hardware engineering, electronics, or manufacturing environment.
NPI Experience:
Proven experience managing NPI processes (EVT, DVT, PVT) and working directly with Contract Manufacturers (EMS/ODM/OEM).
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of BOM structures, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms such as Arena, Propel, and Agile.
- Hands-on experience with modern ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or Odoo, along with advanced Excel and data-modelling skills.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes including SMT/PCBA, injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and tooling cycles.
