Perceptyne is a deep‑tech robotics startup building AI‑powered semi‑humanoid robots for automating dexterous and intelligent tasks on industrial shop floors. These robots can be used in areas like electronics product assembly, automotive assembly lines, warehouse operations, food preparation, etc. We are building technology that will push the boundary of robotics as we know it today!
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly driven Supply Chain Manager to lead our sourcing vertical (both in domestic and international markets), vendor development, and supply chain operations for high‑precision engineering products used in robotics and automation systems.
This role demands a technical understanding of precision manufacturing processes and engineering specifications, enabling the candidate to effectively evaluate suppliers not just commercially, but also on their ability to meet stringent tolerances, material requirements, and process capabilities. The ideal candidate should be comfortable interpreting technical drawings, understanding GD&T, and engaging in detailed discussions with engineering teams and vendors on manufacturability and process optimization.
This role requires frequent travel to visit suppliers, conduct on‑site evaluations, and collaborate closely with vendors and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Techno‑Commercial
- Assess vendors’/suppliers’ technical capabilities, manufacturing processes, and quality standards before onboarding.
- Analyze quotations, negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to ensure cost‑effective procurement.
- Oversee implementation of ERP systems to ensure data flow seamlessly between procurement, warehouse, and finance.
Sourcing
- Identify and source standard components and raw materials globally while ensuring cost‑effective and reliable supply.
- Handle import/export processes, shipping terms, and Incoterms for global procurement operations.
- Manage Bill of Material (BOM) integrity to ensure correct revision parts get into the product.
- Evaluate, onboard, and manage vendors for precision manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, machining, and other fabrication methods.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure quality standards, timely delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement design or specification revisions in the supply chain without disrupting production.
- Notify suppliers about drawing revisions, specification updates, or BOM changes and ensure they implement the latest version.
- Manage existing inventory when revisions occur by identifying obsolete parts, planning rework, or adjusting procurement plans.
- Detect potential risks related to suppliers, logistics, geopolitical issues, quality failures, and supply disruptions.
- Analyze the impact of risks on cost, production schedules, delivery timelines, and overall business continuity.
- Develop strategies such as alternate suppliers, safety stock, and logistics alternatives to reduce risk exposure.
- Regularly monitor supplier performance, market conditions, and geopolitical factors that may affect supply chain stability.
- Coordinate with internal teams to respond quickly to disruptions and maintain supply continuity.
Cross‑functional Coordination
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and operations teams to ensure smooth supply chain execution and production flow.
- Support new product development (NPI) through timely sourcing and supplier readiness.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline. MBA in supply chain is a plus.
- Experience (typically 3‑5 years) in a production/manufacturing environment handling production processes and 2‑3 years in Supply Chain Management handling domestic and international suppliers/vendors.
- Strong analytical and decision‑making skills with the ability to analyze supply chain data and improve operational efficiency.
- Basic knowledge of CNC machining, aluminum casting, sheet metal manufacturing, plastic injection molding, and surface treatment methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—able to work with shop floor personnel, engineers, planners, and management.
- Proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving ability, able to work under pressure and drive improvements.
- Experience or certification in Lean / Six Sigma (Green Belt / Black Belt).
- Experience with manufacturing software / ERP (e.g., SAP, MES systems), production planning tools, data analytics tools (Advanced Excel, Power BI, SQL/MySQL, Python).
- Prior experience in new product introduction (NPI) or process launch.
- Knowledge of export manufacturing, compliance with standards (ISO, IATF 16949, etc.).
