Job summary

Idexcel in Vadodara seeks an experienced Process Safety Engineer with 8-12 years in oil, gas and petrochemical EPC projects. You will lead process safety studies, hazard analyses, and safety design across FEED and EPC stages.

Role requires hands-on PSV sizing, flare network calculations, HAC, and QRA, plus adherence to international standards and client specs. Immediate to 15 days notice preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in major capital projects in oil, gas, petrochemicals EPC environments.
• Proven ability to conduct HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA and risk assessments.
• Experience with PSV evaluation, flare sizing, and hazard analysis.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering standards (NORSOK, API, NFPA, ASME).
• On-site supervision and quality checks on multi-discipline deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Execute major capital projects with process safety focus.
• Develop and review P&IDs, datasheets and safety-related deliverables.
• Perform HAZOP/LOPA/SIL studies and risk assessments.
• Size PSV and flare networks; conduct safety valve sizing calculations.
• Coordinate with licensors, vendors, and clients to ensure compliance.
• Support process optimization and safety-related design across FEED and EPC phases.

Job Description:

1. Extensive experience in the execution of major capital projects.

   • Competent on issues of FPSO offshore production facilities, high pressure gas processing systems and oil/water/gas separation facilities.
   • Experience of process safety on floating production systems, LPG and LNG Storage and Treatment, BOP
   • Hazardous Area Classification Drawing
   • PSV -evaluation of various scenarios, flare network sizing and calculations
   • Conducting Process Safety Audits
   • Develop and implement Process Safety Concepts
   • Conversant with the Engineering Stds such as NORSOK and DNVGL-OS, API, NFPA, ASME, BS / EN etc. and Client Stds such as SHELL, ARAMCO, MOBIL, NMA and DNV Class rules etc. in offshore oil & gas industry
   • Ensure quality by adherence to companys quality document and regular check of work done by juniors
   • Project management and control procedures
   • Process Safety workflow and interdisciplinary co-ordination
   • Exposure in multidisciplinary working environment
   • Process Deliverables for Conceptual, FEED and EPC projects

2. Complete or supervise completion of the following:

   • Working safety design experience in Petrochemicals, Oil and Gas and Chemicals is a must and hands on experience in Specialty/Fine chemicals will be an added advantage
   • Preparation of Hazardous Area Classification Schedule and Drawing
   • Process safety design for Production system such as crude oil, produced water treatment, water injection, condensate treatment
   • Process safety design for Utility system such as Potable water, sea water, closed cooling water, compressed air, instrument air, nitrogen, flare and vent, closed drain, chemical injection, fuel gas treatment,
   • Preparation of Safety Design Basis and various Safety Philosophies
   • Review / provide guidance for preparation of all discipline engineering and design deliverables including P&ID, datasheets.
   • Support in Process Optimization Studies & including Process Simulation Modelling.
   • Sizing of safety valve, calculation reports (using spreadsheets, Aspen, Hysys etc.) and its presentation to client
   • Sizing of flare network and its report using standard tools like Hysys, FlareNet etc.
   • Preparation of Risk Assessment reports, Health Risk Assessment, Emergency Response Plan, MSDS, Passive Fire Protection Drawings, Fire & Explosion Index, Chemical Exposure Index, Escape Routes, Safety Equipment Layouts /PPE Specifications
   • Participate in Design Review, 3D Model, P&IDs,
   • Experience in HAZID/HAZOP/SIL/LOPA/Bow-Tie Analysis, PHSER/QRA/Dispersion Studies & act as Scribe when required
   • Perform inter-discipline squad checks
   • Site surveys, Collection of data from site
   • Awareness of Technical audits and quality reviews
   • Site pre-commissioning activities and engineering support
   • Deal with process licensors, vendor and lead the process review / discussion with Clients as required.
   • Prepare with cost/manpower estimates, bid evaluations and project proposals
