Job summary

OpenText is seeking a Principal Software Developer in Hyderabad, India, to lead complex product design and cross-functional delivery. The role emphasizes architecture, mobile/desktop app design, and high-quality code across platforms.

You will guide senior engineers, deliver POCs, and ensure timely, reliable integrations while aligning with AI-driven information management initiatives. A strong tech foundation and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field is required.
• 12+ years of enterprise product development experience would be expected.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality architecture and design specifications.
• Architecture and design oriented towards multiple devices and platforms
• Detailed technical design for mobile products and applications.
• Deliver POCs and estimates at short notice on integrations and technology choices
• Guide senior engineers to deliver high quality design and code
• Code complex pieces of framework or integrations
• Propose creative solutions or alternatives balancing risk, complexity, and effort to meet requirements.
• Lead software design/code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Mentor other team members.
• Work across teams and functional roles to ensure interoperability among other products, including training and consultation.
• Participate in the software development process from design to release in an Agile Development Framework.

Your Impact

As a Principal Software Developer, you will utilize superior knowledge and experience to perform highly complex product design, systems analysis, research, maintenance, troubleshooting and other programming activities. These would cut across various systems and devices. At the core will be the need to drive future technology implementations.

What The Role Offers

What You Need To Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
• 12+ years of enterprise product development experience
• Fundamentally sound programming and debugging skills
• Knowledge of XML and web services is mandatory
• Should have worked on Object oriented Java Script, HTML and CSS.
• Proficient in at least one of the Java Script based framework like AngularJS/Backbone/ React etc.
• Expert in Web based platform/application development.
• Excellent expertise on various DBs like SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres & HANA.
• Expert in Building and consuming webservices (using RESTful APIs)
• Strong experience with performance and security in the mobile and enterprise context
• Good at Responsive design
• Proficiency with Web Services, SOAP, WSDL and XML, XML Schema and XPath
• Good programming practices with solid object-oriented development experience.
• Experience to agile development processes
• Should be up to date with AI trends, tools, and best practices relevant to development of UI solutions and information management
• Having experience in building AI Agents & Tools would be plus.
• Having good experience of Agentic AI frameworks, development and deployment of tools and agents would be plus.
• Having experience with UI for AI applications would be plus
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle and software estimation is a must.
• Working experience with npm-grunt, node or any other build tool.
• Content management domain experience would be plus
• Experience with OpenText products would be a plus
