Job summary

OpenText is seeking a Principal Software Developer to drive architecture across devices and platforms. You will own detailed technical design for mobile products, mentor senior engineers, and lead design and code reviews in an agile setting.

You will influence technology choices through rapid POC work, collaborate across global teams, and contribute to end-to-end SDLC including security and performance considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of enterprise product development experience.
• Strong Java/J2EE, HTML, JavaScript and CSS skills.
• Experience with AI agents, NLP and AI frameworks.
• Proficient Python development and web services experience.
• Experience with cloud apps using Spring Boot and microservices.

YOUR IMPACT

As a Principal Software Developer, you will apply superior knowledge and experience to perform highly complex product design, systems analysis, research, maintenance, troubleshooting, and other programming activities across a range of systems and devices. At the core of this role is the responsibility to drive future technology implementations, shaping how our products evolve and ensuring they are built on sound, scalable architecture.

What You Will Need To Succeed

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 12+ years of enterprise product development experience.
• Strong, hands‑on experience in Java/J2EE, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Proficiency in at least one JavaScript-based framework, such as AngularJS, Backbone, or React.
• Experience building AI agents and tools.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of AI trends, tools, and best practices relevant to information management.
• Strong, hands‑on experience in Python development.
• Good experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) concepts and techniques.
• Strong experience with Agentic AI frameworks, including the development and deployment of tools and agents.
• Experience with cloud application development using Spring Boot.
• Good understanding of the Twelve‑Factor App methodology.
• Fundamentally strong programming and debugging skills.
• Experience with web-based platform and application development.
• Excellent expertise across databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, and HANA.
• Experience building and consuming web services using RESTful APIs.
• Understanding of performance and security considerations in mobile and enterprise contexts.
• Experience with responsive design.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Proficiency with Web Services, SOAP, WSDL, XML, XML Schema, and XPath.
• Strong UI skills and proficiency in object‑oriented JavaScript programming.
• Solid object‑oriented development experience and good programming practices.
• A strong understanding of Microservice Application Architecture, high‑level and low‑level design, middleware/application servers, and infrastructure, with the ability to review architectural documents and identify potential issues.
• A track record of contributing to the continual improvement of Agile development processes.
• Experience liaising with teams across several geographies.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Good exposure to CI/CD and DevOps tools.
• Content management domain experience is a plus.
• Experience with OpenText products is a plus.
