The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ELV Consultant with the ability to engage and interact with stakeholders at different levels. You will play a leading role in ensuring the successful delivery of innovative design solutions, whilst providing technical and team leadership.

You will work closely with and report to the discipline lead of the ELV division. The role involves day‑to‑day guidance and mentoring of engineers and the BIM team, managing engineers to deliver designs, conducting technical reviews, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring fee and programme for projects. You will be involved in QA processes, establishing deliverables, mentoring and work‑winning activities. Using your expertise and determination, you can manage, motivate, and inspire less experienced engineers.

The Skills

Working toward, or already having, Chartered Engineer status and holding a licence for design of telecommunication installations and systems, educated to degree level in Electrical or Telecommunication Engineering, you will ideally have significant experience in an ELV consultancy or engineering role within the ELV design field. You have proven ability to produce schematic diagrams, prepare specifications and project reports, carry out site inspections and surveys, detail design development, and lead project meetings. Knowledge of WiredScore or other technical benchmarking for buildings is a positive, bringing your own opinions on how we can support clients through technical journeys.

Essential Traits for the Successful Candidate

• Lead role in the technical delivery of projects and provision of technical supervision, guidance, and coaching to less experienced staff.
• Strong foundation in ELV design, including an in‑depth technical understanding of principles of access control, CCTV, intruder alarm, audio visual systems, and IT services design and delivery.
• Knowledge and understanding of resource planning.
• Checking and/or verifying the work of less experienced staff, in accordance with operational procedures.
• Recognised point of contact for clients on projects, acting as second‑in‑command to the discipline lead.
• Under the guidance of a more experienced manager, significant contribution to the financial management of projects and resource planning.
• Ability to step in for project delivery when required, ensuring project completion.
• Ownership of tasks and deliverables.
• Act as a technical advisor to stakeholders, architects, and developers to drive project success; think around problems and guide the team and client toward solutions.
• Experience working with a wider team including architects, MEP and installation teams.
• Organised and confident communicator with excellent client‑facing skills.
• Manage engineering designs in line with client brief and/or other project requirements.
• Review and provide feedback on designs produced by engineers and the BIM team.
• Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to associates and partners.
• Under the guidance of a more experienced manager, contribute to day‑to‑day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental, and health and safety procedures).
• Provide training and coaching to more junior staff, including acting as a mentor to support those pursuing membership of professional institutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of submissions and fee bids.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Contribute to practice‑wide technical initiatives (such as the development of technical standards, software development, knowledge sharing, etc.)
• CTS‑D, BISCI certifications preferred.
