Principal / Training Head Security Training Centre

1. Job Purpose
To lead and manage the BIS Security Training Centre at Khandwa and ensure high standards of discipline, physical fitness, drill, firefighting, security training and professional development of Security Guards, Supervisors and other security personnel.
The Principal will be responsible for maintaining a disciplined training environment and ensuring that all training is conducted as per BIS standards and applicable PSARA requirements.
2. Preferred Candidate Profile
- Ex-Defence personnel preferred, particularly from the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy or CAPF.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have served as JCO / NCO or equivalent, or have experience as an instructor/trainer.
- Strong experience in Physical Training (PT), Parade/Squad Drill and discipline training.
- Good practical knowledge of Fire Fighting, Fire Prevention and Emergency Response.
- Experience in conducting training for security guards, supervisors or defence personnel will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with experience in Security Training Schools / Training Centres will be preferred.
- Should be physically fit, energetic and capable of personally conducting PT and drill sessions.
- Good communication skills in Hindi and English; knowledge of the local language will be an advantage.
3. Key Responsibilities
A. Training Centre Management
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the Training Centre.
- Prepare and implement monthly and batch-wise training schedules.
- Ensure proper discipline, attendance and turnout of trainees.
- Maintain training records, registers, assessments and certificates.
- Coordinate with HR and Operations for trainee mobilisation and deployment.
B. Physical Training & Drill
- Personally lead morning PT, physical fitness and endurance training.
- Conduct squad/parade drill, marching, saluting and turnout inspection.
- Develop discipline, confidence, alertness and team spirit among trainees.
- Conduct regular physical fitness assessments.
- Identify trainees requiring improvement and provide corrective training.
C. Fire Fighting & Emergency Training
- Conduct practical training on:
- Fire prevention and fire safety
- Types and classes of fire
- Use of fire extinguishers
- Hose and fire-fighting equipment
- Fire alarm and emergency procedures
- Evacuation and emergency response
- Mock fire drills
- Ensure regular practical firefighting demonstrations and exercises.
- Maintain coordination with appropriate fire/safety experts wherever specialised training is required.
Fire-fighting practice and familiarity with fire appliances are established components of professional security and fire-safety training.
D. Security Guard Training
Ensure effective delivery of training covering:
- Basic principles of security
- Physical security
- Access control
- Gate management
- Frisking and searching procedures
- Patrolling
- Incident reporting
- Crowd management
- Theft prevention
- Emergency and crisis response
- First Aid
- Fire Fighting
- Disaster management
- Communication and telephone/wireless procedures
- Behaviour, etiquette and customer handling
- Basic legal awareness
- Duties and responsibilities of Security Guards and Supervisors
These areas align with the core subjects commonly prescribed for private-security training, including physical fitness, physical security, firefighting, crowd control, first aid and crisis/disaster response.
4. Administration & Discipline
- Maintain strict discipline and professional standards at the Training Centre.
- Conduct daily inspections of trainees, uniform and training areas.
- Ensure proper maintenance of training equipment, firefighting equipment and physical-training facilities.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly training reports for management.
- Monitor trainer performance and training quality.
- Ensure proper housekeeping, safety and security of the Training Centre.
- Organise periodic tests, assessments, demonstrations and Passing Out Parades.
5. Desired Skills & Competencies

6. Qualification & Experience
Essential:
- Graduate preferred.
- Ex-Defence / Ex-CAPF background preferred.
- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience, preferably including instructional/training responsibilities.
Desirable:
- Experience as an Army Instructor / PT Instructor / Drill Instructor / Fire Fighting Instructor.
- Fire & Safety / First Aid certification.
- Experience in a private security training institute.
- Knowledge of PSARA training requirements.
7. Performance Parameters / KPIs
The Principal will be assessed on:
- Training completion as per approved schedule.
- Trainee attendance and discipline.
- Physical fitness and drill standards.
- Firefighting practical training standards.
- Training assessment and passing percentage.
- Quality of training records and documentation.
- Trainee feedback and deployment readiness.
- Training-centre discipline and administration.
- Equipment and facility maintenance.
- Compliance with BIS and applicable statutory/PSARA requirements.
8. Ideal Candidate
An Ex-Defence JCO/NCO or equivalent with strong experience in PT, Parade/Squad Drill, Fire Fighting and Security Training, who can independently command and manage a security training centre and develop disciplined, physically fit and professionally trained security personnel.
