Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Bengaluru is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to lead design, development, integration, and verification for aerospace systems onsite. The role requires DO-178C lifecycle experience, strong C/C++, Python skills, and real-time embedded expertise.

You will mentor teams, drive CI/CD, and collaborate across Systems, Verification, Hardware, Quality and Programs to ensure certification deliverables.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of industry experience in safety-critical domain, embedded software lifecycle per DO-178C.
• Aerospace/avionics software development experience.
• Knowledge of DO-178C certification processes and requirements.
• Experience with DOORS or Polarion for requirements management.
• Proficient in Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of software verification, regression testing and structural coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, integration and verification of embedded software for aerospace systems.
• Provide architectural guidance to software teams and conduct reviews.
• Decompose system requirements into software requirements and drive CI/CD pipelines.
• Mentor engineers on best practices and engineering excellence.

What You Will Do *

• Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software for aerospace systems.
• Provide technical guidance and architectural direction to software development teams.
• Ability to decompose systems requirements to software high level requirements.
• Drive software requirements reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
• Mentor and coach engineers on software development best practices and engineering excellence.
• Support estimation, planning, risk management, and technical problem-solving activities.
• Develop and maintain application software for embedded and real-time systems.
• Design and implement low-level device drivers for peripherals and communication interfaces.
• Develop software for communication protocols such as CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC 429, or equivalent.
• Perform debugging, performance optimization, and root cause analysis of complex software issues.
• Conduct impact analysis and support corrective and preventive actions for field and customer issues.
• Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.
• Integrate automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Develop Python scripts and tools for automation, testing, data analysis, and productivity improvements.
• Support software configuration management and release activities.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace software development processes and standards.
• Support requirements traceability, verification activities, and certification deliverables.
• Participate in software lifecycle reviews and audits.
• Collaborate with Systems, Verification, Hardware, Quality, and Program teams throughout development.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
• Support backlog grooming, feature decomposition, and effort estimation.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the software organization.

Qualifications You Must Have *

• Minimum 12 years of Industry experience in safety critical domain (preferably aerospace domain), embedded Software life cycle in accordance with DO-178 C processes.
• Aerospace or avionics software development experience.
• Knowledge of DO-178C and certification processes.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Polarion.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent DevOps tools.
• Knowledge of software verification, regression testing, and structural coverage concepts.
• Experience with static analysis tools, and software quality processes.
• Exposure to embedded systems and board bring-up activities.
• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering /Electronics and communication Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Information Technology.
• A strong Python programming experience.
