Job summary

Vertiv Co seeks a Senior Product Reliability Engineer to drive reliability in product design and testing. You will lead environmental testing, perform failure analysis, and coordinate across global teams to resolve complex issues.

Preferred candidates have 10+ years in electrical or mechanical engineering, strong knowledge of power electronics, and experience in reliability growth. Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (or equivalent).
• 10+ years in electrical or mechanical product development, design, repair, or support.
• Experience with power/electrical systems, cooling, and PCBA schematics.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Research environmental reliability standards and guide design and testing.
• Design environmental reliability test schemes including accelerated life tests.
• Conduct reliability prediction, life evaluation, and FMEA analyses.
• Support market and environmental adaptability issues.
• Lead a global team of technicians and engineers to troubleshoot and analyze returns.
• Generate reports for internal teams and customers.
• Analyze failure trends and propose corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Job description

The SeniorProduct Reliability Engineerwill provide expertise in design for reliability, reliability test construction and execution, reliability test equipment, failure analysis and statistics for mechanical and electrical product reliability. The role takes part in new product introductions ensuring R&D uses best reliability design practices, and implement lessons learned from reliability growth to new designs. The engineer analyzes and organizes trend data and acts as product technical expert to a global team of technicians and quality engineers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research on domestic and foreign environmental reliability standards, combined with product design and application requirements, guide environmental reliability design and testing
• Design product environmental reliability test scheme to verify product environmental adaptability and reliability level including accelerated life test
• Reliability prediction, life evaluation, FMEA analysis and other reliability work according to market demand
• Support for issues related to market and environmental adaptability
• Drives a team of technicians and engineers globally to effectively troubleshoot and analyze returned units to determine root cause
• Generates reports to internal teams and, at times, directly back tocustomers
• Gathers the failure trend data and suggests design or manufacturing corrective actions
• Works closely with technicians and junior engineers, providing technical expertise andguidance

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering orequivalent experience
• 10+ years of electrical or mechanical engineering product development, design, repair, or supportexperience
• Working knowledge in power/electrical engineering; three-phase AC and DC power, IGBTs, inverters, rectifiers, microprocessor and sensor interfacing, firmware interfacing, DC batteries, connectors/wire- harnesses
• Working knowledge in large and small scale cooling systems
• Strong ability to read and understand electrical schematics and PCBA layouts
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve and prevent a wide range of problems quickly andmethodically
• Ability to operate in an electrical testing lab environment safely and successfully
• Must be comfortable interfacing with customer and at times traveling to sites to troubleshoot difficult or high-profile technicalissues
• Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communicationskills
• Ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global developmentteams
