Job summary

WSP in India seeks a Principal Engineer– Electrical to lead a growing energy team across power, water and renewables projects. The role focuses on primary and secondary detailed engineering of electrical design, leading technical reviews and maintaining client interfaces.

You will prepare specifications, oversee substation design, and ensure deliverables meet industry standards and constructability requirements. Willingness to travel to ME sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate or Post Graduate Degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• Experience in Power, Water and Renewable e.g. solar, wind and BESS projects is preferred.
• Experience of working on projects with Middle East clients will be strong differentiator.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Job description

We are seeking a Technical Expert with core expertise in Electrical domain with proven experience on power generation, Wind and Solar Power Plants. The incumbent would be a professional with strong technical expertisewho will be managing overall electrical team, enable timely and quality delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

Role relating to Principal Engineer– Electrical for Power, Water & Renewables projects.

This includes (but not limited to):

• The candidate should have strong technical knowledge in both primary & secondary detailed engineering of power plant electrical design, interfaces and subject matter expert at least one of them.
• Perform design review for electrical deliverables related to power, water and renewables projects while acting as a lead and directly interfacing with clients.
• Candidate shall have expertise in basic design/review of electrical substation facilities including Single Line Diagram, Protection Single Line diagram, General Arrangement layout, Transformer Sizing, Earthing and Lightening Protection, Sectional Layout, Lightning protection, LT AC/DC diagrams, Lighting, ground mat design, Power One Line diagram, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, Panel GA drawing, BOM of P&C Panel, LT AC/DC diagrams.
• Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
• Experience in basic/detail engineering for power generation projects preferably with CCGT plants.
• Delivery of accurate and thorough designs that will meet industry standards and specifications, and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
• Review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructability.
• Resolving site queries during the construction phase of projects.
• Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to substation design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.
• Assist in the preparation of technical inquiry requests (Inquiry Requisitions) to vendors, participate in the technical evaluation of vendor bid offers. Partake in Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), review vendor drawings and documents. Review design calculations, ensure vendor equipment specifications meet with client equipment specifications and are within budgeted costs.
• Ability to lead the projects and deal the client with hands on experience in project management processes/activities.
• Good understanding of PPP projects structure, stakeholders, PPAs, ECAs and related contractual documents.
• Willingness to visit client offices/project sites in ME as and when required.

Qualifications
