Job summary

WSP India seeks a Graduate mechanical engineer with 8–10 years of experience to join the Middle East Power & Water team. You will contribute to feasibility, FEED studies, and technical evaluations for power generation and desalination projects.

Responsibilities include design coordination, preparation of specifications and drawings, tender reviews, and reporting on project progress. Travel overseas is expected.

Qualifications

  • Graduate mechanical engineer with 8–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with power and water projects in design offices.
  • Thermodynamic power plant cycle analysis and plant systems knowledge.
  • Knowledge of desalination pre- and post-treatment processes.
  • Experience on large desalination and power plant projects in the Middle East.
  • Experience in selecting mechanical/BOP equipment.
  • Ability to prepare technical specifications for power and desalination plants.
  • Design review of power and desalination plants (process, mechanical and BOP).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel overseas for project meetings.
  • Familiarity with relevant international standards.
  • Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the GCC group team leader to plan and allocate team resources and tasks.
  • Provide technical support to Pre‑Contract and Project Delivery teams on design, construction, and operation of power and desalination plants and associated equipment.
  • Detail design of power and water projects and use of associated performance modelling software packages.
  • Technical evaluation of tender submissions and report preparation.
  • Prepare basic and detailed technical specifications and design drawings.
  • Prepare layout drawings, plan and cross‑sectional views.
  • Review design, performance calculations, and drawings of contractors/subcontractors/vendors.
  • Attend and contribute to team and project meetings.
  • Report and monitor site progress to project manager/client.
  • Attend factory acceptance tests for equipment manufactured in India and abroad.
  • Prepare due diligence and operation reports.
  • Review method statements and test procedures submitted by contractors for plant site activities.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly construction progress reports.
  • Maintain awareness of technological advances and industry best practices.

Job Description

Provide technical support to the Middle East Power & Water business in the field of Power Generation, mainly CCGT and OCGT technologies, and Desalination (SWRO, MSF, and MED technologies).

Scope of Work
  • Feasibility / FEED studies for new Power and Desalination/water treatment projects
  • Benchmarking, cost analysis, and contract review
  • Engineering discipline coordination during project execution
  • Preparation of functional specifications, datasheets, form sheets, and basic concept drawings for Power and Desalination projects
  • Technical evaluation of tenders, vendor offers, and bids; preparation and closure of clarifications and reports
  • Review of engineering drawings and documents
  • General technical support to utility companies, plant owners, project developers, banks, and governments pre/post financial close for new build and existing operational plants

  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to meet tight deadlines
  • Validation of specific calculation procedures
