Job summary

Wood is recruiting a Principal Engineer – Offshore (Piping) for its Chennai office. The role requires 10+ years of offshore piping experience and leadership capability for brown and green field projects.

You will lead design activities, review piping studies, and guide junior designers while coordinating with global teams to deliver high‑quality offshore solutions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in piping engineering in oil & gas project execution (Essential).
  • Working experience with major industrial & international codes (ASME, API & NORSOK).

Responsibilities

  • Offshore green field projects as Lead or Area Lead.
  • Brown field modifications, tie-ins / hook-ups, and site survey input.
  • Review piping studies for elevation & configuration on fixed platforms.
  • Experience with FPSO/FLNG topsides modules.
  • Own module/deck area and report to lead periodically.
  • Prepare 2D layout sketches and guide junior designers.
  • Experience in leading a team of members.

Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer – Offshore (Piping) with 10+ years of experience in an offshore piping engineering environment. The role will be based at our Chennai office.

The Role

The Principal Designer will apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices to the organization’s products and services. This opportunity is ideal for an individual who has previous experience within offshore piping engineering and wants to be part of a dynamic project team working as part of an international service line.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:

Domain
  • Experienced in offshore green field projects (topsides for well head, LQ, riser platform & process platforms) as Lead or Area Lead
  • Experienced in brown field modifications, tie‑ins / hook‑ups and preparation of site survey input
  • Review piping studies for defining elevation & configuration for fixed platforms & interface definition / hook‑ups
  • Experienced in FPSO/FLNG topsides modules
  • Take ownership of module / deck area, work independently and report to lead periodically
  • Prepare 2D layout study sketches and guide junior designers
  • Experience in handling a team of members
