Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking an experienced SAP Basis Architect in Bengaluru to partner with IT and internal teams to design, implement, and maintain SAP systems across our global SAP landscape.

You will report to the SAP Basis Manager and drive infrastructure initiatives. The role requires 8+ years of SAP Basis administration and architecture experience, with extensive SAP technology knowledge and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 8+ years of SAP Basis administration and architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Extensive experience with SAP technologies including SAP ERP, SAP APO, SAP Fiori, SAP GRC, SAP Portal, SAP BW, SAP PO, SAP SSO Server, and SAP Web Dispatcher.
• Strong experience with Linux/Windows and databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, SAP HANA, and MaxDB.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical initiatives such as infrastructure refreshes, data center migrations, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop SAP infrastructure and project plans and ensure delivery of milestones.

• Balance workload between architecture/project activities (~80%) and operational support (~20%).

As an SAP Basis Architect at MKS, you will partner with IT and internal teams to support, design, implement, and maintain SAP systems across MKS's global SAP landscape. In this role, you will report to the SAP Basis Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Partnering with peers across the IT organization to solve complex business problems and lead the development of high-level solution options and technical approaches.
• Leading technical initiatives such as infrastructure refreshes, data center migrations, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Developing SAP infrastructure and application project plans and ensuring delivery of technical milestones established by application delivery managers.
• Driving technical innovation by evaluating and recommending SAP technologies and related products.
• Playing a hands‑on role in troubleshooting and resolving significant system issues, including performance bottlenecks and stability concerns.
• Balancing workload between architecture and project activities (approximately 80%) and operational support activities (approximately 20%).
• Managing multiple projects simultaneously while demonstrating strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and customer‑facing skills.

Skills You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of SAP Basis administration and architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Extensive experience with SAP technologies including SAP ERP, SAP APO, SAP Fiori, SAP GRC, SAP Portal, SAP BW, SAP PO, SAP SSO Server, and SAP Web Dispatcher.
• Strong experience with operating systems including Linux and Windows and databases including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, SAP HANA, and MaxDB supporting SAP applications.
• Proven experience performing SAP version upgrades and support package upgrades.
• Hands‑on experience with SAP security and authentication technologies including SSO, SNC, SAML, multi‑factor authentication, and load balancing.
• Experience in managing SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), and SAP IBP.

Preferred Skills:

• SAP certification in SAP Basis, SAP HANA, or related SAP technologies.
• Experience with SAP cloud integration and hybrid landscape architectures.
• Knowledge of automation, monitoring, and orchestration tools used in SAP operations.
• Experience leading offshore technical teams and third‑party service providers.
• Strong understanding of ITIL processes, change management, and enterprise operational governance.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work in an office or remote environment using standard computer equipment.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while performing technical and analytical work.
• Occasional participation in after‑hours maintenance activities, system upgrades, and production support events.
• May require participation in on‑call support rotations for critical SAP production environments.
