The Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher is the primary academic and pastoral anchor for a class of young learners, responsible for their holistic development in line with the CBSE curriculum and the school's values. The role requires warmth, patience, and strong classroom management, combined with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences across subjects, and to build a safe, nurturing homeroom environment that supports each child's academic, social, and emotional growth.

Position Summary

The Grade 2 Homeroom Teacher is the primary academic and pastoral anchor for a class of young learners, responsible for their holistic development in line with the CBSE curriculum and the school's values. The role requires warmth, patience, and strong classroom management, combined with the ability to plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences across subjects, and to build a safe, nurturing homeroom environment that supports each child's academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary caregiver and point of contact for the assigned Grade 2 class, fostering a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum and the school's pedagogical framework, using age-appropriate, activity-based, and experiential methods.
  • Teach core subjects to the homeroom class (e.g. English, Mathematics, EVS/Environmental Studies) or coordinate closely with subject teachers where a departmental model is used.
  • Monitor and assess student progress through regular formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and behaviour.
  • Identify learning gaps early and provide differentiated instruction, remedial support, or referrals to the learning-support team as needed.
  • Build strong routines around discipline, hygiene, punctuality, and classroom etiquette appropriate for young learners.
  • Plan and supervise classroom activities, projects, celebrations, and co-curricular events, including festivals, assemblies, and Annual Day participation.
  • Communicate regularly and constructively with parents on their child's academic and social-emotional development through diaries, meetings, and Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
  • Collaborate with co-teachers, subject teachers, special educators, and counsellors to support the well-being and development of every child.
  • Maintain a safe and organised classroom, ensuring student safety at all times, including during transitions, breaks, and school events.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, curriculum planning workshops, and other professional development initiatives.
  • Uphold and model the school's values, code of conduct, and child-safeguarding policies at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent; a degree in Early Childhood Education / Elementary Education is preferred.
  • A graduate degree in a relevant discipline (B.A./B.Sc.) along with a teaching qualification.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in a CBSE-affiliated school.
  • Familiarity with CBSE curriculum guidelines, continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE), and NEP 2020 foundational-stage recommendations is an advantage.
Skills and Attributes
  • Genuine warmth and patience with young children, and the ability to build trust with both students and parents.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour-guidance skills appropriate for a Grade 2 age group.
  • Clear and confident communication, both spoken and written, in English.
  • Creativity in lesson planning, and comfort using activity-based and technology-aided learning tools.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and assessment.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented approach and openness to feedback and continuous learning.
  • Commitment to child safety, inclusion, and the overall well-being of every student.
Working Conditions
  • Full-time role during school working days and hours, with occasional participation in weekend or after-hours school events (Annual Day, PTMs, workshops).
  • Based on the Global Pathways School campus, Coimbatore.
