Job summary

Sense in Chennai is seeking a senior engineer to lead power electronic product design and development projects. You will work on power conversion architectures, motor control, and EMI/EMC considerations, with hands-on testing and documentation throughout the process.

The role requires strong fundamentals in electronics, sensors, and software/hardware integration, and involves collaboration across engineering teams to deliver reliable power electronic solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electricals, Instrumentation or Communications with 7–10 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 5–8 years of experience.
• Strong fundamentals in electronics components and analog/digital circuits.
• Hands-on experience in power electronic design and board bring-up, DVT and test documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead power electronic product design and development projects from concept to delivery.
• Develop and verify power conversion architectures (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-AC) and related EMI/EMC considerations.
• Perform motor control development using high-performance microcontrollers/FPGA where applicable.
• Create test plans, procedures and reports; conduct board bring-up and design verification tests.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate findings clearly.

Job description

• Experience in leading power electronic product design and development projects
• Good knowledge on electronic product design and development process, from requirement till delivery.
• Strong fundamentals in Semiconductor switches (MOSEFT, IGBT), Gate drivers, Passive components, ADC/DAC, Filters, connectors, PCBs, Parasitic and magnetic components
• Fundamentals of electronics components, analog and digital circuits
• Hands on experience with any one of the Power converter design and analysis (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-AC).
• Good understanding of Sensors(Position, temperature, etc), Solenoids, BLDC/PMSM motors, RL/Electronic loads & Dynamometers etc.
• Hands on experience with Power estimations, thermal management solutions and their implications on EMI/EMC
• Experience in serial protocol such as CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
• Expert in using lab test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, data logger
• Hands on with writing test plans, procedures and reports
• Board bring up, design verification test (DVT).
• Motor controller development using high performance microcontrollers/FPGA is preferred.
• Good Communication, document writing and Presentation skills.
