Job summary

JobItUs is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to operate, monitor, and maintain pollution-control equipment at a DRI plant. You will focus on dust collection, material conveying, and associated mechanical systems to support safe, compliant plant operations.

The role requires 2–5 years' experience in DRI/steel plant maintenance, knowledge of bag filters and dust-collection, and the ability to work in shifts in a high-temperature environment. India-based applicants preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in DRI/steel plant pollution-control or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with bag filters and dust-collection systems is advantageous.
• Ability to work in shifts and high-temperature environments.
• Good safety awareness and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor pollution-control mechanical equipment in the DRI plant.
• Inspect bag filters, dust collectors, scrubbers, blowers, fans, hoppers, rotary valves, and conveyors.
• Monitor equipment condition (noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, blockage).
• Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance.
• Check proper operation of dust extraction and material collection systems.
• Ensure proper operation of conveyors, dampers, valves, ducts.
• Attend breakdowns and coordinate with mechanical maintenance team.
• Identify and report equipment abnormalities to supervisor.
• Assist during shutdown, maintenance, cleaning, and overhaul activities.
• Maintain housekeeping around pollution-control equipment.
• Follow SOPs, safety procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Coordinate with DRI operation, electrical, instrumentation, and environmental teams.
• Maintain equipment inspection and maintenance records.
• Ensure safe handling of dust, collected material, and waste.
• Support troubleshooting and root-cause identification of recurring mechanical problems.

The role focuses on maintaining equipment such as dust collection, material conveying, air pollution control, and associated mechanical systems to ensure smooth plant operation and compliance with safety and environmental procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor pollution-control mechanical equipment in the DRI plant.
• Inspect equipment such as bag filters, dust collectors, scrubbers, blowers, fans, hoppers, rotary valves, screw conveyors, and associated systems.
• Monitor equipment condition, abnormal noise, vibration, temperature, leakage, and blockage.
• Carry out routine inspection and preventive maintenance activities.
• Check proper functioning of dust extraction and material collection systems.
• Ensure proper operation of conveyors, dampers, valves, ducts, and mechanical components.
• Attend breakdowns and coordinate with the mechanical maintenance team.
• Identify and report equipment abnormalities to the supervisor.
• Assist during shutdown, maintenance, cleaning, and equipment-overhauling activities.

• Ability to identify abnormal equipment conditions.

• Ability to work in shifts and high-temperature industrial environments.

Qualification

• ITI - Fitter / Mechanical preferred.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience in DRI/steel plant pollution-control or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with bag filter and dust-collection systems will be an advantage.
