Job summary

Bioage Technologies designs and manufactures fermenters, bioreactors, lab equipment, and downstream processing equipment for customers in biotech, biopharma, food, pharma, and research in India with growing export markets. We seek an Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automation systems for bioprocess equipment.

The role encompasses PLC, HMI, SCADA programming, instrumentation calibration, FAT/SAT, and technical documentation to support audits and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or related field.
• 2-4 years in automation and instrumentation engineering, preferably in bioprocess or pharma.

Responsibilities

• PLC, HMI & SCADA Programming: develop, program, debug, maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS systems with control logic, sequencing, PID loops, recipe control, data logging, alarms, batch control, interlocks, and safety functions for fermentation and filtration.
• Automation System Design: design and implement automation solutions for bioprocess equipment, select and specify sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, and instrumentation, and support electrical control panel design per IEC, IS, UL, and industry standards.
• Instrumentation & Calibration: supervise installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of process instruments (pH, DO, temp, pressure, conductivity, flow, level) and develop SOPs for handling and calibration.
• Project Execution & FAT/SAT: collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, and Project teams; provide inputs during design, FAT, SAT, commissioning, installation, and customer-site activities.
• Technical Documentation & Compliance: prepare and maintain FDS, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, SOPs, validation docs for audits, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: establish preventive/predictive maintenance; troubleshoot faults and deviations; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Cross-functional & Customer Support: work with internal teams and customers to ensure successful implementation, commissioning, and reliable operation within timelines.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Automation Engineer to design, implement, and maintain automation systems for stainless steel bioprocess and Lab Equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• PLC, HMI & SCADA Programming: Develop, program, debug, and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems, including control logic, sequencing, PID loops, recipe control, data logging, alarms, batch control, interlocks, and process safety functions for fermentation and filtration processes.
• Automation System Design: Design and implement automation solutions for bioprocess equipment, including selection and specification of sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, and other instrumentation, while supporting electrical control panel design and assembly as per IEC, IS, UL, and applicable industry standards.
• Instrumentation & Calibration: Supervise installation, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance of process instruments such as pH, DO, temperature, pressure, conductivity, flow, and level sensors, and develop SOPs for instrument handling, calibration, and maintenance.
• Project Execution & FAT/SAT: Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, and Project teams for equipment development and project execution. Providing technical inputs during product design, FAT, SAT, commissioning, installation, and customer-site activities.
• Technical Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and maintain FDS, I/O lists, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, SOPs, validation documents, and other technical records required for audits, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Establish preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for automation and instrumentation systems, troubleshoot control system faults and process deviations, and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Cross-functional & Customer Support: Work closely with internal engineering teams and customers to ensure successful implementation, commissioning, and reliable operation of automation systems while meeting project timelines, safety, quality, and performance requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 2-4 years in automation and instrumentation engineering, preferably in the bioprocess or pharmaceutical industry.

Skills

• Knowledge of PLC programming on Siemens platform, HMI, SCADA systems, and DCS.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, actuators, and control valves.
• Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
