Plastic Procurement Trader

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Plastic Procurement Trader to manage the sourcing and trading of plastic resins and petrochemical products across domestic and international markets. The role requires identifying reliable suppliers, negotiating commercial agreements, monitoring market trends, and building long‑term relationships with global producers, traders, and distributors.

The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of polymer markets, international procurement, and commercial trading while contributing to business expansion across key global markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source plastic resins and petrochemical products from domestic and international suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with polymer manufacturers, petrochemical plants, distributors, traders, and channel partners.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, and supply agreements.
  • Identify new sourcing opportunities and develop alternative supplier networks.
  • Track international polymer prices, supply‑demand dynamics, freight costs, and market trends to support strategic buying decisions.
  • Coordinate with logistics, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs teams to ensure timely shipment execution.
  • Work closely with internal sales and commercial teams to ensure product availability and competitive pricing.
  • Visit suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and industry exhibitions to strengthen supplier relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Support expansion into new markets by identifying products, suppliers, and trading opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, trade documentation, and company procurement policies.

Required Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in plastic procurement, polymer trading, petrochemical trading, or international sourcing.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic resins, polymers, and the global petrochemical market.
  • Experience working with domestic and international suppliers, including Korea, Thailand, China, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
  • Proven experience in supplier development, commercial negotiations, and strategic sourcing.
  • Good understanding of import/export procedures, Incoterms, freight management, and international logistics.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, pricing movements, and supply risks.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within India and overseas.
