Job summary

Exide Industries in Navi Mumbai is seeking an experienced professional to drive New Product Development in battery manufacturing. You will lead casting, pasting, and assembly charging improvements and guide efforts to reduce scrap and defects.

You will apply hands-on NPD experience, conduct battery failure analyses and field evaluations, and coordinate NPD sample submission and COA activities with Production, Quality, and Procurement teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in NPD processes, especially in battery manufacturing or related domains.
• Proficient in battery failure analysis and field evaluations for root-cause identification.
• Skilled in inspecting NPD samples and COA activities, including cut-pen preparation.
• Capable of collaborating with Production, Quality and Procurement to refine new product ideas.
• Experience coordinating NPD sample submissions for internal evaluation and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Oversee first-year warranty validation before commercial launch for new products.
• Assist in reducing warranty costs per corporate guidelines and monitor effectiveness.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

1. Verification of New Product / New process / 4M Change / audit of respective validations & effectiveness.

2. First-year warranty of new products (first time right of new products) -ensure proper validation before commercial launch.

3. Customer complaint reduction, corrective action & effectiveness monitoring.

4. Reduction of warranty as per Corporate guidelines.

5. Guide team on process parameter improvements at various stages of manufacturing for reducing scrap & improving quality.

6. Reduction of manufacturing defects as per Corporate targets.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience in New Product Development (NPD): Hands-on experience in NPD processes, particularly related to casting, pasting, and assembly charging in battery manufacturing or similar domains.
• Battery Failure Analysis: Proficient in conducting battery cut-open analysis for root cause identification. Willingness and ability to travel to field locations for on-site battery evaluations and cut open activities.
• Sample Inspection & Certification: Skilled in inspecting NPD samples and actively participating in Internal Certificate of analysis activities. Experience includes Cut-pen preparation for both proposed NPD samples and end-of-life product samples.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Capable of working closely with Production, Quality, and Procurement teams to evaluate and refine new product ideas, ensuring alignment with functional, quality, and cost requirements.
• NPD Sample Submission & Evaluation: Responsible for managing the submission of NPD samples for internal evaluation and testing. Coordinates with internal teams to ensure timely feedback and next-step planning
