Job description

Overall accountability of Manufacturing and Management of site operations with a view to maintaining product quality, delivery of optimum customer service, cost reductions and overall safety for site employees through leadership, training and development of the factory team.

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities
  • Robust implementation of the Coats Health and Safety management system through education, training and leadership of the factory team.
  • In consultation with the Engineering / Admin / HR Manager ensure local regularity compliance to the local legislation for environmental and operational practices.
  • In consultation with the MFG Director ensure relevant operational targets are set and supported by a dynamic action plan that underpins the key result areas.
  • Delivery of the company agreed manufacturing targets for productivity, quality and lead time through continual improvement of the manufacturing process and development of the team.
  • Ensure cost control targets are set from a zero base with action plans maintained to minimise waste across the plant. This includes both process waste and energy waste. Promote factory wide employee engagement across all levels through information sharing, team development, reward and recognition programs in consultation with HR/IR personnel.
  • Train, coach and mentor subordinates with a view to making recommendations for succession plans at plant level.
  • Act as a role model for the rollout and implementation of the Coats goals and principles ensuring that the wider team understand and can translate the key messages into actions.
  • Play the role of QRM for the ISO systems, ensure all gaps and NC are closed in advance of recertification.
  • Ensure that the CRSL is adhered to and that correct protocols are followed for the introduction of new products into the plant to ensure no contravention of the CRSL.
  • Train, coach and mentor subordinates with a view to making recommendations for succession plans at plant level.
  • Act as a role model for the rollout and implementation of the Coats goals and principles ensuring that the wider team understand and can translate the key messages into actions.
Knowledge and Understanding Of
  • Quality management systems [ISO]
  • Coats Technology (Thread basics, wet processing, factory engineering)
  • Coats H&S Policy and local SHE and employment legislation / standards
  • Coats Sustainability Policy and local legislation on environmental issues
  • SAP / Every Angle
  • Working understanding of Lean Tools & Techniques
  • Working understanding of Six Sigma advantageous
  • Power Steering (project loading and updating, report generation)
Experience
  • Graduate calibre or similar through either experience / vocational qualification in the field of science, textile or engineering
  • Minimum 5 years management / supervisory experience
  • Exposure to change management processes
  • Previous experience of textile colouration advantageous
