Job summary

Jalan Infrastructure in Kolkata seeks a seasoned Fleet Manager to oversee the planning, deployment, utilization and lifecycle management of heavy construction equipment across multiple projects. You will ensure uptime through preventive maintenance, lead workshops, and drive cost optimization using ERP/telemetry/IoT data.

The role requires leadership of mechanical engineers, foremen, mechanics and operators, with rigorous adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead fleet planning, deployment, utilization and lifecycle management of heavy construction equipment across projects.
• Ensure high equipment uptime and reliability through preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance; reduce MTTR via effective technical support.
• Oversee central/regional workshops, major equipment overhauls and maintenance operations.
• Manage CAPEX/OPEX, fuel, lubricants, spares, inventory, AMCs, vendors and rentals with focus on cost optimization.
• Monitor equipment performance via ERP/telemetry/IoT systems, including fuel efficiency and idle time.
• Identify and correct improper equipment selection, operating practices and skill gaps to improve productivity.
• Lead and develop mechanical engineers, foremen, mechanics, and operators across sites.
• Ensure compliance with RTO, DGMS, labour, environmental and workplace safety requirements.
• Develop and implement SOPs and safe operating practices for heavy-duty equipment.
• Drive IoT, telematics, surveillance and digital fleet-monitoring initiatives for better control and cost management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead fleet planning, deployment, utilization, mobilization/demobilization, transfer, and lifecycle management of heavy construction equipment across multiple projects.


• Ensure high equipment uptime and reliability through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance; reduce MTTR through effective technical support.


• Oversee central/regional workshops, major equipment overhauls, and maintenance operations.


• Manage CAPEX/OPEX, fuel, lubricants, spares, inventory, AMCs, vendors, and equipment rentals with focus on cost optimization.


• Monitor equipment performance through ERP/telemetry/IoT systems, including fuel efficiency, idle time, productivity, pilferage, operating modes, and avoidable equipment movement.


• Identify and correct improper equipment selection, operating practices, and skill gaps to improve productivity and reduce operating costs.


• Lead and develop mechanical engineers, foremen, mechanics, and operators across multiple sites.


• Ensure compliance with RTO, DGMS, labour, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.


• Develop and implement SOPs and safe operating practices for strategic and heavy-duty equipment.


• Drive IoT, telematics, surveillance, and digital fleet-monitoring initiatives for improved equipment control, utilization, and cost management.
