Job summary

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Foreman/Supervisor/Engineer/Manager - P&M - Site to manage daily operation, upkeep, and performance monitoring of construction plant and machinery at the project site.

Qualifications

  • ITI/diploma or degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automobile Engineering or equivalent.
  • Hands-on site-level operation and maintenance of construction equipment.
  • Experience with supervising machinery usage and troubleshooting at site.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operation and maintenance of site construction equipment to ensure high availability.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and coordinate servicing with teams and vendors.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, utilization, and downtime; take corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines, safety norms, and regulations during operation.
  • Assist mobilization/demobilization of equipment and maintain documentation.

SECTION II: ROLE SUMMARY (Purpose of the Role)

The Plant & Machinery (P&M) - Site is responsible for managing the daily operation, upkeep, and performance monitoring of construction plant and machinery at the project site. The role ensures equipment readiness, adherence to maintenance schedules, compliance with safety standards, and optimal utilization of machinery to support uninterrupted project execution.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of all construction equipment and machinery at the site, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and checklists, coordinating servicing activities with site teams and vendors.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, equipment utilization, and downtime; take corrective actions to minimize losses.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM guidelines, safety protocols, and statutory regulations during equipment handling and operations.
  • Support in the mobilization and demobilization of equipment at the site, maintaining proper documentation.

Internal Stakeholders
  • Site Execution and Planning Teams: For daily equipment requirement, schedule alignment, and breakdown reporting.
  • Cluster and BU P&M Teams: For resource allocation, technical escalations, and major breakdown support.
External Stakeholders
  • Equipment Operators and Technicians: For field-level work assignment, tracking machine health, and site-level troubleshooting guidance.
  • OEMs and Local Service Vendors: For periodic maintenance support, spare parts procurement coordination, and specialized equipment servicing.
SECTION V: KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
KNOWLEDGE
  • Minimum Qualifications: ITI / Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Automobile Engineering.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in local language; working knowledge of English preferred.
Experience
  • Years of Experience: 3 - 20 years
  • Nature of Experience: Hands-on experience in site-level operation, maintenance, and management of construction equipment, including troubleshooting and supervision of machinery usage.
