Job summary

Personnel Search Services Group invites applications for a Plant Head role in India’s beverage alcohol sector. The position encompasses end-to-end leadership of a Distillery, Captive Power Plant, Utilities, and Bottling Unit, with full P&L ownership and accountability for safety, quality, and productivity.

The ideal candidate has 18–22 years in integrated manufacturing, with 3–4 years as Unit Head/Plant Head, and a strong background in industrial relations, compliance, and government liaison.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering; DIFAT preferred.
• 18–22 years of experience in integrated manufacturing operations, including 3–4 years as Unit Head/Plant Head of a Distillery.
• Proven experience managing Distillery, Captive Power Plant, Utilities, and Bottling operations; strong exposure to industrial relations, statutory compliance, government liaison, and factory administration.
• Strategic business leadership with strong commercial acumen; drive profitability, operational excellence, and transformation; leadership, decision-making, stakeholder management, people development, ownership and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end operations of the Distillery, Captive Power Plant, Utilities, and Bottling Unit.
• Deliver production, quality, yield, efficiency, cost, and profitability targets.
• Own the unit P&L, budgets, productivity improvements, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Ensure high standards of engineering, maintenance, asset reliability, and plant availability.
• Drive operational excellence, digitalization, automation, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, excise, environmental, safety, labour, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead industrial relations, employee engagement, and workforce productivity while maintaining harmony.
• Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, statutory bodies, local administration, and external stakeholders.
• Oversee unit administration, security, housekeeping, transport, and other support services.
• Develop leadership capability, succession planning, and a culture of accountability and safety.
• Provide timely MIS, business reviews, and strategic inputs to corporate management.

Position Overview

The Plant Head will be responsible for overall leadership, operational excellence, profitability, statutory compliance, and administration of an integrated manufacturing facility comprising a Distillery, a Captive Power Plant, and a Bottling Unit. The role demands end-to-end ownership of manufacturing operations, safety, quality, cost optimisation, people management, industrial relations, statutory compliance, government liaison, and local administration to ensure sustainable business performance.

The incumbent will serve as the overall custodian of the unit, drive operational efficiency, employee engagement, and continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Additional DIFAT (Diploma in Fermentation & Alcohol Technology) preferred.
• Experience: 18-22 years of experience in integrated manufacturing operations, including a minimum of 3-4 years as Unit Head/Plant Head of a Distillery.
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience managing Distillery, Captive Power Plant, Utilities, and Bottling operations, with strong exposure to industrial relations, statutory compliance, government liaison, and factory administration.
• Soft Skills: Strategic business leader with strong commercial acumen; proven ability to drive profitability, operational excellence, and organizational transformation; strong leadership, decision-making, stakeholder management, and people development skills; hands-on approach with high ownership, execution excellence, and integrity.
