Job summary

HMD Healthcare Limited is seeking a senior Plant Operations head to lead end-to-end manufacturing for medical devices in India, driving regulatory compliance, quality, and cost efficiency. The role requires deep expertise in spinning processes, polymers, sterilization, cleanroom operations, and a data-driven leadership style.

You will manage capacity planning, QA/RA coordination, and technology transfer while guiding Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of chemical engineering, spinning processes and medical device manufacturing.
• Expertise in polymerization and exclusion of membranes and exposure to clean room culture.
• Deep understanding of medical device regulations and audits.
• Leadership in large-scale manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Head overall manufacturing operations including compounding, extrusion/moulding support, membrane/chemical processing, sterilization, packing, and utilities.
• Drive capacity planning, production scheduling, and yield optimization.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, FDA, CE, CDSCO, and internal quality systems.
• Oversee validation for processes from receiving till finished products.
• Lead process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer activities.
• Implement Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen for productivity and cost reduction.
• Reduce process variation, waste, and rejection through root-cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, pollution control norms, chemical handling, and waste management.
• Drive a strong safety culture across the plant.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams: Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and Utilities.
• Build a high-performance culture through training, succession planning, and KPI management.
• Drive discipline, accountability, and continuous skill development.
• Manage plant budgets, OPEX, CAPEX, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Oversee utilities, energy consumption, chemical inventory, and asset utilization.
• Support new plant setup, expansion, or capacity enhancement projects.

Job Purpose

To lead end-to-end plant operations for medical device manufacturing, ensuring regulatory compliance, product quality, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement, with strong expertise in manufacturing of spinning processes, sterilization, polymers, Textiles and cleanroom operations.

Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations & Manufacturing

• Head overall manufacturing operations including compounding, extrusion/moulding support, membrane/chemical processing, sterilization, packing, and utilities.
• Drive capacity planning, production scheduling, and yield optimization.
• Ensure smooth functioning of cleanroom environments (ISO Class) and controlled processes.

Quality & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, GMP, FDA, CE, CDSCO, and internal quality systems.
• Coordinate with QA/RA teams during audits, inspections, and validations.
• Oversee validation for processes from receiving till finished products.

Process Engineering & Improvement

• Lead process optimization, scale-up, and technology transfer activities.
• Implement Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen for productivity and cost reduction.
• Reduce process variation, waste, and rejection through root-cause analysis.

EHS & Statutory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with EHS, pollution control norms, chemical handling, effluent treatment, and waste management.
• Liaise with statutory authorities for factory, environmental, and safety compliances.
• Drive a strong safety culture across the plant.

People & Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary teams: Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, and Utilities.
• Build a high-performance culture through training, succession planning, and KPI management.
• Drive discipline, accountability, and continuous skill development.

Cost & Asset Management

• Manage plant budgets, OPEX, CAPEX, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Oversee utilities, energy consumption, chemical inventory, and asset utilization.
• Support new plant setup, expansion, or capacity enhancement projects.
