The Plant Head Packing Section will be responsible for end-to-end management of packing operations for masalas and food products, ensuring efficient production, quality compliance, food safety, cost control, and timely dispatch. The role focuses on achieving high productivity while maintaining strict adherence to FSSAI, GMP, and hygiene standards
Key Responsibilities
Packing Operations Management
- Lead and manage all primary and secondary packing operations including pouch, jar, bottle, and bulk packaging.
- Ensure daily production planning, line balancing, and manpower deployment to meet dispatch targets.
- Monitor and improve OEE, line efficiency, and output across all packing lines.
Quality, Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure packing operations comply with FSSAI, GMP, GHP, HACCP, and ISO/FSSC 22000 standards.
- Maintain hygienic conditions in packing areas including personnel hygiene, pest control, and sanitation.
- Ensure correct labelling, coding, traceability, batch control, and shelf-life compliance.
- Coordinate with Quality team during audits, inspections, and customer visits.
Machinery & Maintenance
- Oversee operation of packing machines (VFFS/HFFS, pouch sealing, jar filling, weighing, coding, and labelling machines).
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Drive improvements to reduce downtime, spillage, rework, and machine losses.
Manpower & Team Management
- Manage supervisors, operators, helpers, and contract labour in the packing section.
- Ensure skill development, training, discipline, and adherence to SOPs.
- Maintain attendance, shift planning, productivity norms, and safety compliance.
Inventory & Material Control
- Ensure proper control and availability of packing materials (laminates, pouches, jars, caps, cartons, labels).
- Minimize wastage and variance of packing materials.
- Coordinate with stores and procurement for timely availability of materials.
Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and control packing cost per unit.
- Drive Kaizen, 5S, Lean, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Reduce rejections, rework, and market complaints related to packing.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to factory safety norms, PPE usage, and statutory compliance.
- Implement and monitor safety practices to achieve zero accidents.
- Maintain documentation as per statutory and internal requirements.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of FMCG packing operations (food/masala products)
- Expertise in packing machinery, processes, and materials
- Understanding of FSSAI labeling and food safety requirements

Educational Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering / Food Technology / Production / Mechanical
Diploma holders with relevant experience may also be considered
Preferred candidate profile
Experience
- 812+ years of experience in packing operations within FMCG/Food industry
- At least 45 years in a leadership role managing packing sections or plants
