Job summary

Pai Kane Group seeks a Plant Head for its Sawantwadi, Maharashtra manufacturing facility specializing in container and E-house products. The role ensures safe, on-time, on-cost delivery across the full coil-to-finished-product process.

You will translate orders into executable build plans, manage takt time, control costs, uphold quality and EHS, and build the plant organization while interfacing with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering.
• MBA in Operations is an advantage.
• Solid grounding in heavy sheet-metal / structural fabrication, welding and industrial painting processes.

Responsibilities

• Own overall plant operations — production, planning (PPC), quality, maintenance, stores and dispatch — and deliver the committed build plan on safety, quality, cost and delivery; hold takt time across the specialised-container line.
• Drive Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and a zero-harm culture; ensure adherence to the Factories Act, statutory approvals, and fire / electrical / material-handling safety across all stations (welding, painting, assembly).
• Control conversion cost, material yield and consumables; track productivity, OEE, scrap / rework and manpower cost against budget, and drive continuous improvement (lean, 5S, Kaizen).
• Ensure product and process quality — first-pass yield, dimensional accuracy from jigs / fixtures, robotic-weld quality, and C5M coating conformance to ISO 12944; own customer / third-party inspection clearance.
• Plan and manage capacity, shift loading and the phased commissioning of plant and machinery; coordinate with projects / procurement on installation, ramp-up and future line expansion.
• Build, lead, train, appraise and mentor the plant organisation (production, quality, maintenance, stores); set KPIs and drive accountability across shifts.
• Ensure statutory, regulatory and standards compliance (Factories Act, pollution / consent to operate, relevant IS / IEC codes) and maintain plant documentation, traceability and the numbering standard.
• Interface with the CEO, design, sales and customers on order feasibility, delivery commitments, escalations and continuous-improvement initiatives.

POSITION SUMMARY

• The Plant Head holds single-point operational accountability for the Company's specialised container and E-house manufacturing facility at Sawantwadi, Maharashtra.
• The role owns the safe, on-time, on-cost and on-quality delivery of the plant's output — data-centre genset enclosures, battery energy storage system (BESS) containers, diesel and gas generator enclosures, and compact substations — across the full coil-to-finished-product process (cutting, forming, robotic welding, C5M painting, assembly and dispatch).
• The Plant Head translates the order book into an executable build plan, holds takt time across the specialised-container line, controls conversion cost and material yield, ensures statutory, quality and EHS compliance, and builds and leads the plant organisation.

KNOWLEDGE

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (a Master's or MBA in Operations is an advantage; a Diploma with strong equivalent experience is acceptable).
• Solid grounding in heavy sheet-metal / structural fabrication, welding and industrial painting processes.

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 12–15 years of manufacturing experience with at least 4–5 years in a Plant Head / Works Manager / Production Head capacity.
• Experience setting up or ramping a new line / greenfield plant is strongly preferred.
