Job summary

Keka Inc. in India is seeking a Cost Accountant for plant finance to manage cost accounting, inventory valuation, and ERP-based records.

You will lead monthly closes, budgeting, MIS reporting, and statutory compliance including GST and TDS, while coordinating with production, SCM, and corporate finance to optimize costs. The role emphasizes internal controls, process improvement, and accurate costing of materials, labor, and overhead.

Qualifications

• Experience in internal financial controls and manufacturing accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GST, TDS and direct tax compliance.
• Proficiency in cost accounting and budgeting with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete books of accounts for the plant and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Ensure proper accounting of production, inventory, fixed assets, expenses, and journal entries.
• Perform monthly closing activities and reconciliation of plant accounts.
• Calculation of ROI of new machinery / any modifications.
• Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods valuation and reconciliation; analyze costs and variances.
• Support cost optimization initiatives and identify financial improvement opportunities.
• Verify vendor invoices, GRNs, purchase orders, weighment slips; cost code wise payments.
• Monitor customer collections and coordinate with Corporate Finance.
• Prepare annual budgets and monthly MIS reports; track CAPEX/OPEX and carry out cost analysis of downtime and rework.
• Ensure GST, TDS, Income Tax compliance and assist auditors during statutory reviews.
• Drive ERP accounting entries for production, inventory, procurement, and dispatch; pursue process improvements.

Job description

• Maintain complete books of accounts for the plant and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
• Ensure proper accounting of production, inventory, fixed assets, expenses, and journal entries, procurement and dispatch.
• Perform monthly closing activities and reconciliation of plant accounts.
• Calculation of ROI of new machinery / any modifications

B. Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

• Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods valuation and reconciliation, Stores, Electricity cost, Labour cost, CAPEX, OPEX, arriving at total cost of plant and mapped with ERP.
• Analyse production costs, material consumption, and manufacturing variances.
• Support cost optimization initiatives by identifying financial improvement opportunities.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
• Verify vendor invoices, GRNs, purchase order, weighment slip and supporting documents before processing payments cost code wise.
• Monitor customer collections and coordinate with Corporate
• Accounts for receivable reconciliation.
• Ensure timely accounting of purchase and sales transactions.

D. Budgeting & MIS Reporting

• Preparation of annual budgets and monthly financial forecasts for the plant vs Actuals.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports vs actuals for Plant Head and Corporate Finance.
• Tracking of CAPEX / OPEX spends, analyse financial performance and provide actionable insights to management.
• Cost analysis of Reject and Rework of material
• Cost analysis of downtime and opportunity cost of the same
• Yield analysis and reporting
• Carrying cost of inventory

E. Statutory Compliance & Audit

• Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act, and other applicable regulations.
• Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors during audits.
• Maintain proper documentation and financial records for statutory requirements.

F. Cash & Banking Operations and Internal Controls & Coordination

• Monitor plant cash transactions, petty cash, and banking activities.
• Ensure proper authorization and accounting of Plant payments and receipts.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company policies.
• Coordinate with Production Manager, SCM, Purchase, HR, and Corporate Finance for smooth plant operations.

G. ERP & Process Improvement

• Ensure accurate ERP accounting entries related to production, inventory, procurement, and dispatch.
• Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial controls.
• Cost reduction initiatives measurement and validation.
