Role Overview
The Planning Manager will be responsible for leading the Production Planning & Control (PPC) function at Placebo Fabtech's manufacturing facility. The role involves production planning, project scheduling, material planning, capacity utilization, resource allocation, and delivery management to ensure smooth execution of fabrication and manufacturing activities. Working closely with Production, Procurement, Stores, Quality, Design, and Project Management teams, the Planning Manager will ensure optimum utilization of resources, timely completion of fabrication projects, and achievement of customer delivery commitments.
Key Responsibilities
1.Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and manage master production schedules based on customer orders, capacity, and delivery commitments.
- Convert customer requirements into production plans and work orders.
- Monitor daily production progress and ensure adherence to schedules.
- Conduct regular review meetings to track plan versus actual performance and resolve bottlenecks.
- Maintain Daily Production Reports (DPRs) and planning dashboards.
- Analyze schedule deviations and implement corrective action.
2. Material Planning & Coordination
- Plan material requirements based on BOMs and production schedules.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Stores to ensure timely material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels, material utilization, and wastage.
- Ensure availability of drawings, BOMs, and technical documents before production release.
- Support material traceability and documentation compliance.
3. Resource & Capacity Management
- Plan and allocate manpower, machines, and resources to maximize productivity.
- Monitor capacity utilization and identify constraints affecting output.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize production disruptions.
- Support contractor and workforce planning based on production requirements.
- Drive cross-functional coordination to ensure smooth execution.
4. Quality, Dispatch & Execution Control
- Coordinate inspection schedules with Quality and Production teams.
- Ensure production milestones are achieved without compromising quality requirements.
- Monitor WIP status and track order completion against delivery schedules.
- Coordinate dispatch planning and logistics to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Support closure of quality issues and production-related non-conformances.
5. Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Publish weekly and monthly MIS reports covering production status, delivery performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
- Track key KPIs including schedule adherence, OTIF delivery, productivity, WIP ageing, and capacity utilization.
- Provide management with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning accuracy, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E. / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 812 years of experience in Production Planning, PPC, Manufacturing Planning, or Operations Planning.
- Experience in structural steel fabrication, heavy engineering, industrial fabrication, project manufacturing, EPC fabrication, pressure vessels, tanks, ducting, material handling equipment, or related manufacturing sectors preferred.
- Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, material planning, and manufacturing operations.
- Experience working in ERP/MRP-based environments.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong Production Planning & Control (PPC) expertise.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and production schedules.
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/MRP systems, and MIS reporting.
