Job summary

Bechtel in India is seeking a Piping Designer with up to 2 years of experience in piping layout design and drafting. The role involves preparing layouts and detailed drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and S3D, while ensuring compliance with design standards for safe and economical plant operation.

The candidate should be familiar with reading drawings and possess basic communication skills. Familiarity with semiconductor, data center, or power projects is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in engineering or scientific discipline with piping layout design and drafting experience.
• Familiarity with 3D/2D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, S3D) and CAE/CAD methods.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and knowledge of construction materials.

Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW

- Applies standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria in making adaptations and modifications under guidance.

- Performs overall systems design and engineering tasks, within a discipline, having less degree of complexity.

- Performs assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for an engineering discipline within a global business unit.

- Participates in the operation of a small size design group in a particular discipline.

- Assists in the preparation of plans and coordinates the assigned work to meet the project schedules.

- Requires a knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.

Major Responsibilities:

- Directly performs work of designers and drafters with guidance from supervisors. This work includes the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed construction drawings using 2D CAD/3D software like AutoCAD/Revit/S3D.

- Delivers work with compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.

- Provides input for work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.

- Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

- Participates in one or more of the following: a) Equipment design and development b) System design and layouts c) Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering in REVIT tool.

- Understands roles played by other disciplines on the project.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- A recognized diploma / course in an engineering or scientific discipline, with experience in piping layout design and drafting.

- Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the disciplines design responsibilities.

- Knowledge of 3D/2D tools, as applicable to the specific discipline work.

- The above is normally acquired through:

• Specialized courses in drafting, design and engineering practices, and CAD, OR
• Application of computer aided engineering (CAE) / computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.

JOB EXPERIENCE:

Experience Level: up to 2 years of working as Piping Designer. Experience of working on Semiconductor, Data Center or Power projects will be an additional advantage. Basic skill in oral and written communication.
