Job summary

PeopleStrong is seeking a Diploma Mechanical Engineer specialized in piping with 3–8 years' experience to design, draft, fabricate, and supervise erection for plant projects. You will prepare piping layouts, GA and equipment layouts, and interpret P&IDs, select pipes, supports, valves, and fittings, and prepare isometrics with BOM.

You will also coordinate with fabricators and ensure safety and quality compliance.

Qualifications

• Diploma holder with piping specialization and 3–8 years experience.
• Experience in piping design, drafting, fabrication, erection supervision, and material management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review piping layouts, GA drawings, and equipment layouts.
• Interpret P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
• Select and size pipes, pipe supports, valves, strainers, expansion joints, and dampers.
• Prepare isometric drawings with BOM.
• Know pipe routing, flexibility analysis basics, and nozzle loads.
• Supervise fabrication, erection, alignment, and hydrotesting.
• Coordinate with fabricators, welders, fitters, and contractors.
• Monitor weld joints and welder qualification (WPS/PQR).
• Ensure compliance with safety norms and quality procedures.

Job description

A Diploma Mechanical Engineer in piping with 3–8 years experience is responsible for piping design, drafting, fabrication, erection supervision, material management, and ensuring compliance with codes. The role involves coordination across engineering disciplines and supporting smooth execution of plant projects.

• Preparation and review of Piping Layouts, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Equipment Layouts.
• Understanding and interpretation of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
• Selection and sizing of:
  • Pipes
  • Pipe Supports
  • Valves (Gate, Globe, Check, Ball, Butterfly)
  • Strainers, Expansion Joints, Dampers
• Preparation of Isometric drawings with BOM (Bill of Materials).
• Knowledge of pipe routing, flexibility analysis basics, and allowable nozzle loads.

Shall be familiar with Codes & Standards

• Working knowledge of relevant codes such as:
  • ASME B31.1 / B31.3
  • ASME Section II, V, VIII, IX
  • API standards
  • Indian Standards (IS codes)
• Familiarity with client and project-specific standards.
  • Supervising piping fabrication, erection, alignment, and hydrotesting.
  • Coordination with fabricators, welders, fitters, and contractors.
  • Monitoring weld joints, WPS/PQR/Welder Qualification.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety norms and quality procedures.
• Working knowledge of software:
