Role Overview
Design and architect a cloud-native, microservices-oriented technology platform for PHI’s health insurance business.
Responsibilities
- Deeply understand the long-term architectural direction and reusable components.
- Evaluate business requirements and convert them into solution designs covering functionality, interoperability, performance, scalability, reliability, and availability.
- Identify and evaluate alternative design options and trade-offs, preparing designs that align with current and future architecture.
- Own high- and low-level designs of systems and applications aligned with PHI Tech Vision.
- Prepare detailed design specifications for development and modification of applications.
- Ensure adoption and implementation of defined solutions, provide technical expertise, and collaborate with technical teams on system integration plans.
- Support change programs through technical plans and application of design principles that comply with enterprise and solution architecture standards.
- Lead governance forums to harmonize application designs.
- Identify and document application/integration components for recording in an EA tool, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Ensure extensions to defined designs undergo rigorous vetting and maintain security, availability, and performance standards.
Qualifications
- Health insurance product/company or IT services background with health insurance vertical experience.
- 8-18 years of experience as a technology solution leader.
- Proficiency in UML (sequence, activity, state diagrams).
- Strong ability to translate business strategy and processes into low-level technology design.
- Deep knowledge of modern design patterns (CQRS, SAGA), microservices, and related technologies.
- Good understanding of enterprise integration and messaging patterns, SOA governance.
- Experience with API design, RESTful services, Pub-Sub, and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka).
- Knowledge of Enterprise Java Stack, front-end technologies, mobile apps, middleware, databases (SQL & NoSQL), data warehouses.
- Experience with DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, problem analysis, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
Education & Language
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
