Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited in Chennai is seeking an experienced Performance Test Engineer to join our QA team. You will design, execute, and tune load and performance tests across web and cloud apps, with emphasis on identifying bottlenecks and delivering actionable optimizations.

You will work in an Agile/CD environment, leverage tools like JMeter, LoadRunner- type suites, New Relic or Dynatrace, and collaborate with developers to improve non-functional requirements and system stability.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in load/ performance testing across web and cloud apps.
• Experience with test planning, estimation, and environment setup.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise tech stacks (web, middleware, databases).
• Familiar with monitoring and KPI analysis for performance.
• Ability to operate in Agile/CD environments and provide recommendations.

Job Summary

Core Skills

• Min of 3+ to 8 years’ experience with Performance Testing and tuning.
• Review functional design and non-functional requirements and provide recommendations
• Should understand the challenges and strategies to effectively implement performance testing in an agile or Continuous delivery environment.
• Familiar with real-time, user-facing testing methodologies and approaches.
• Familiar with batch or background testing methodologies and approaches.
• Strong experience in cloud apps performance testing
• Strong understanding of the monitoring solutions and KPIs used to determine availability and performance of the technology stacks of the following: (Web (Apache), Application (Weblogic or Websphere or Kafka or Solace), and Database (SQL or DB2 or Oracle and Mongo)).
• Strong Experience using diagnostic tools like New Relic, Dynatrace, HTTP Watch, Fiddler, IE and Chrome Developer Tools
• Expertise in Test Planning, Test Estimation, Test Strategy, Work Load Design, Test Cases Design, Test Environment Setup, Test Data Setup, Defect Management & Configuration Management.
• Must possess a strong knowledge of enterprise application architecture and technologies including web, web services,.net, Java, Apache, JBOSS and VMWare.
• In-depth knowledge and working experience with Performance Center, JMeter, and other latest Performance Engineer & Performance Testing Virtualisation tools and Open Source performance testing tools (Apache JMeter, WebLOAD etc)
• Must be familiar with load test scripts in the following protocols: Rest, IBM MQ/Solace/Kafka, HTTP, SOAP, AJAX Flex, ODBC, and Java RMI
• Ability to work in a collaborative "team-oriented environment using and implementing best practice programs with respect to load generation, bottleneck analysis, usage of modeling tools and statistical analysis.
• Strong problem solving skills and very good time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Good to Have

• Experience with one or more coding language ( JAVA,Python or Ruby etc) with some Development background will be an advantage (Candidate will be preferred with this knowledge)
• Able to adopt to DevOps practises and experience in running P&V tests in a CI-CD pipeline is preferable.
• Well versed with Cloud technologies and virtualisation

Accountability/ Responsibility

• Perform in-depth analysis of load tests both in real-time test execution and in post-run review to determine test validity, triage root-cause of any failures, report on any performance issues or defects and identify and provide recommendations on next steps.
• Execute Benchmark, load, stress, volume, endurance and other non-functional tests.
• Monitor application logs to determine system behaviour. Address all technical issues; facilitate the resolution and necessary follow up with Development and other cross-functional departments.
• Analyze the CPU Utilization, Memory usage, Network usage, Garbage Collection and DB Parameters and DB Reports to verify the performance of the applications.
• Identifying memory leakage, connection issues & Bottleneck problem in the application.
• Generate performance graphs, session reports and other related documentation required for validation and analysis.
• Publish results and receive appropriate signoff. Prepare detail status reports, and monitoring of all defects and issues.
