Job summary

Opus Technologies in Pune is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to design and execute performance workloads across core modules, build a reusable testing suite, and capture throughput, latency percentiles, errors, and telemetry. You will establish baselines using production data or SLOs and collaborate with QE, PM, Eng, and QA teams to embed performance gates in the release process.

Qualifications

• Experience designing performance workloads and baselines.

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and SDLC.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Ability to take ownership, drive initiatives independently, and deliver results.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, root-cause analysis, and production support.
• Hands-on experience developing AI-powered agents using tools like GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, etc., to accelerate development, testing, and automation.

Performance Engineer

Experience - 6+ yrs

Location - Pune (Hybrid)

About the Role

As a Senior Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and executing performance workloads (baseline, peak, burst/stress, endurance/soak, dependency-latency, event-backlog, and batch-volume tests) across Widget/token initialization, Benefit Eligibility, Airports API, Lounge/Fast Track fulfillment, and critical vendor adapters. You will build a reusable performance-testing suite, capture throughput, latency percentiles (p50/p90/p95/p99), error/retry rates, and resource/telemetry metrics, and establish approved performance baselines using production evidence or SLOs.

Working within an Agile environment, you will collaborate with the QE Platform/Test Lead, Product Management, Engineering, and Quality Engineering teams to integrate performance gates into the release process. In addition, you will take ownership of the team's performance strategy, analyze saturation points and recovery behavior, mentor engineers on performance practices, and continuously improve efficiency and engineering standards.

Skills/Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in Java, J2EE, Spring, and Spring Boot
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs and Web Services
• Hands-on experience with performance-testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, k6) and API Automation
• Experience designing performance workloads, baselines, and automation strategies
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and SDLC
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, code reviews, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Ability to take ownership, drive initiatives independently, and deliver results
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, root-cause analysis, and production support
• Hands-on experience developing solutions and building AI-powered agents using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Claude, and similar AI platforms to accelerate software development, testing, troubleshooting, automation, and technical documentation.
