Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking an experienced Performance Testing specialist to lead LoadRunner-based testing for enterprise applications. You will own the testing strategy, design realistic workloads, and coordinate with Dev, DevOps, DB, and Infra teams to ensure performance goals are met.

You will work with VuGen, Controller, Analysis, LRE/LRC and modern monitoring tools to derive actionable insights and drive remediation. Strong communication and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in performance testing for enterprise applications.
• Hands-on expertise in OpenText/Micro Focus LoadRunner ecosystem (VuGen, Controller, Analysis, LRE/LRC).
• Deep understanding of performance test types: load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, scalability, failover.
• Ability to define/derive NFRs, SLAs/SLOs, baselines and capacity targets with stakeholders.
• Experience with protocol scripting (Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient, SAP, etc.).
• Advanced correlation, parameterization, and data strategy skills.
• Experience designing Controller/LRE/LRC scenarios and workload realism.
• Experience with distributed load generation and environment readiness.
• Strong results analysis: percentiles, throughput, errors, regressions.
• Ability to correlate client/server metrics using monitoring tools.
• CI/CD integration and automation of runs and reporting.
• Ability to identify bottlenecks across app/DB/infra and drive remediation.
• Strong communication to convey risks and recommendations.
• Mentoring juniors and enforcing standards.

Responsibilities

• Own performance testing strategy aligned to journeys and NFRs.
• Create and maintain LoadRunner assets: VuGen scripts, datasets, scenarios, monitoring.
• Build realistic workload models and run tests across staging/pre-prod environments.
• Execute Controller/LRE/LRC runs; manage distributed load generators and readiness.
• Monitor metrics and analyze results to isolate root causes and verify fixes.
• Produce performance reports with actionable insights and optimization recommendations.
• Establish baselines and compare runs across releases; define go/no-go gates.
• Collaborate with Dev, DevOps/SRE, DB and Infra teams to drive fixes.
• Coach team members and standardize best practices and reporting templates.

Job Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in performance testing / performance engineering for enterprise applications
• Strong hands-on expertise in OpenText/Micro Focus LoadRunner ecosystem: VuGen, Controller, Analysis and LoadRunner Enterprise (LRE) / LoadRunner Cloud (LRC) exposure preferred
• Deep understanding of performance test types: load, stress, spike, endurance/soak, scalability, failover and selection criteria
• Proven experience in defining/deriving NFRs, SLAs/SLOs, baselines, and capacity targets with stakeholders
• Strong experience in protocol selection and scripting approaches (Web HTTP/HTML, TruClient, SAP, etc. as applicable)
• Advanced experience in correlation (dynamic values, session handling, auth flows), parameterization, and realistic data strategy
• Experience designing and running Controller/LRE scenarios (ramp-up/steady/ramp-down), pacing/think time, rendezvous points, and workload realism
• Hands-on experience with distributed load generation, generator sizing, and test environment readiness
• Strong capability in results analysis: percentiles (P90/P95/P99), throughput, error %, saturation points, and regression trend comparisons
• Strong experience correlating client-side symptoms with server-side evidence using monitoring/APM tools (Dynatrace/AppDynamics/Grafana/Prometheus/Azure monitors etc.)
• Experience integrating runs into CI/CD and version control driven asset management; ability to automate execution and reporting
• Ability to isolate bottlenecks across app/DB/infra/network/config/caching/code paths and drive remediation with engineering teams
• Strong communication skills—translate findings into clear risks, recommendations, and executive summaries
• Mentoring junior engineers; enforcing standards, templates, and governance (reviewing scripts, scenarios, reports)

Key Responsibilities

• Own performance testing strategy and plan aligned to business-critical journeys and NFRs
• Create and maintain LoadRunner assets: VuGen scripts, parameter datasets, scenarios, monitoring configuration
• Build realistic workload models; execute tests across environments (staging/pre-prod) with repeatability
• Run Controller/LRE/LRC executions; manage distributed load generators and environment readiness
• Monitor client + server metrics; analyze results, isolate root causes, and validate remediation effectiveness
• Produce performance reports with actionable insights, risks, and optimization recommendations
• Establish baselines, compare runs across releases, and define acceptance gates for go/no-go decisions
• Collaborate with Dev, DevOps/SRE, DB and Infrastructure teams to drive fixes and prevent regressions
• Coach team members and standardize best practices, reusable accelerators, and reporting templates.
