Job summary

Harris Global Business Services (GBS) in Maharashtra, India, seeks an experienced Medical Billing Clerk to handle payment posting, ERA/EOB processing, and denials management within our RCM team. You will reconcile daily deposits, apply adjustments, and ensure HIPAA compliance.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in medical billing, familiarity with EPIC/NextGen or similar RCM software, strong Excel skills, and a solid understanding of insurance reimbursement and denial workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance/related field.
• 1-3 years in medical billing or revenue cycle management.
• Experience with RCM software such as EPIC, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, Athenahealth, Kareo or Cerner.
• Strong understanding of insurance reimbursement, medical billing, and denial management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and payment reconciliation.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Post payments from insurance companies, government programs, and patients into the RCM system.
• Process ERA and manual EOB, and apply adjustments/write-offs per payer guidelines.
• Balance and reconcile daily deposits with posted payments.
• Manage denial handling and follow-up for timely resolution.
• Collaborate with billing and A/R teams to correct claim errors and resubmit claims.
• Track underpayments and escalate discrepancies to the RCM Manager.
• Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on payments, denials, and discrepancies.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and coordinate with internal teams as needed.

• Process Electronic Remittance Advices (ERA) and manual Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
• Apply necessary adjustments, refunds, and write-offs per payer guidelines.
• Balance and reconcile daily deposits with posted payments.
• Denial Management & Reconciliation
• Identify and post insurance denials while ensuring timely follow-up for resolution.
• Work with the billing and accounts receivable teams to correct claim errors and resubmit claims.

• Maintain accurate payment records and reconciliation reports.
