Job summary

Panaah Scholars in Pune invites a Pathfinder to support academically driven students from underserved communities through secondary school. You will maintain relationships with ~40 students, guide them through the 9-month programme, and connect families to the schooling journey.

You will collaborate with the Programme Lead, stay curious about local sectors, and help students access real actions such as internships and conversations with professionals.

Responsibilities

• Hold a caseload of about 40 students across the 9-month programme.
• Run regular one-on-ones on a rolling cycle: every student seen at least once a fortnight, anyone at risk weekly.
• Lead the Figuring-Out Phase with your cohort: a 6-week process that helps students find clarity on their sector and their aspiration.
• Spot students drifting before they drop. Step in before an absence becomes a disappearance.
• One meaningful family touchpoint a month for every student: in person, by call, or at the door.
• Be the primary relationship between Panaah and the household.
• Stay genuinely curious about sectors and connect students to real conversations with working professionals.
• Update the MIS weekly: attendance, flags, family contact, progress notes.
• Weekly check-in with the Programme Lead.
• Escalate red flags the day you see them.

A Pathfinder is not a teacher. Not a social worker. Not a content deliverer. A Pathfinder is the one person in a student's life who holds the relationship from Day 1 to placement, and stays curious enough about the world of work to keep that relationship useful

Roles and responciblity-

2. 2. Hold the relationship. Every student has one person who knows their name, their family situation, and their mood on a bad week.
3. 3. Track without bureaucracy. Notice when someone goes quiet before the MIS flags it.
4. 4. Bridge the family. Be the face of Panaah to the parent, not just to the student.
5. 5. Stay a step ahead.
6. 6. Follow what is moving in your sectors and use it to push students toward real action: a conversation 6. with a working professional, a first internship, a freelance brief. Curiosity is how you stay useful

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Student relationships

• One meaningful family touchpoint a month for every student: in person, by call, or at the door.
• Be the primary relationship between Panaah and the household.
• Handle family pressure around earning timelines with honesty, not avoidance.

Sector and industry work

• Stay genuinely curious about your sectors. Follow hiring trends, new roles, and what people actually get paid.
• Connect students to real conversations with working professionals: not just inspiration, an actionable next step.
• Work with the Programme Lead, who holds the employer and placement pipeline in Year 1. Your job is to know your sectors well enough to move the right student toward the right opening at the right moment.

Tracking and coordination

• Update the MIS weekly: attendance, flags, family contact, progress notes.
• Weekly check-in with the Programme Lead.
• Escalate red flags the day you see them. Do not sit on problems.

We will look for :

• A graduate degree helps, but we care more about instinct and background than credentials.
• Roughly 23 to 30: old enough to carry work credibility, young enough not to feel like authority. This is a guide, not a cut-off.
• Someone who has made a career transition or found their own way to work without a clear path. You have solved a version of the problem you will help students solve.
• Comfort with uncertainty. You do not panic when a student goes quiet for two weeks.
• Active curiosity about at least one of our sectors.
• Relationships as your natural mode, not something you perform

HOW WE WILL SELECT - Three steps.

Short and intentional. We are not looking for the perfect resume. We are looking for the right instincts and the right background.

Step 1 · Application (one page) Three questions:

• Tell us about a young person you have worked with and what changed for them.
• What does a bad week look like for a teenager in a community like Kashewadi or Lohiyanagar?
• Why this role, why now?

Step 2 · A conversation Not an interview. We will give you a real scenario and watch how you think, not what you know.

Step 3 · Half a day at a centre (finalists only)

You will spend half a day with us on the ground. Not to observe. To take part. We want to see how you move in a community space and whether young people respond to you. We complete reference and safeguarding checks before this step.
