Job summary

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is seeking a Patent Analyst with 2-4 years experience in patent search and analysis, focusing on automotive technology segments.

You will support patentability assessments and IP protection in collaboration with R&D teams. Experience with Derwent Innovation, Orbit, and other patent databases, plus retrieving information from patent offices (Indian Patent Office, USPTO PAIR, J-PlatPat, EP Register) is essential.

BE/ B-Tech/ M-Tech in Mechanical Engineering

V. Work Experience:

• a)2-4 years of work experience in patent search and analysis
• b)1. Should have experience in patent search databases such as Derwent Innovation, Orbit, etc. and on various patent analytics methodologies (novelty search, FTO, invalidation, technology search, infringement analysis)
• 2. Candidate should have experience in retrieving legal/ prosecution related information from different Patent office’s websites (such as Indian Patent Office, USPTO PAIR, J-PlatPat, and EP Register)
• 3. Experience in the field of Automobile Technology like vehicle engines, transmission, interiors, vehicle body, brakes & suspension systems
• c)Worked in KPO/Law firm/In-house (preferred)

VI.KRAs - Key responsibilities

• 1. To educate, motivate engineers on creation and protection of intellectual property
• 2. To conduct ideation workshops and coordinate with various business functions for new idea generation/ submission
• 3. To work closely with R&D engineers to review ideas and enhance the IDF conversion rate to patents
• 4. To evaluate ideas for patentability and to identify/draft key features for patent protection
• 5. To perform relevant patent study with respect to patentability, Freedom to operate, Invalidation, State of art search and infringement on different technologies
• 1. Should have attitude to proactively develop understanding of diverse technology areas apart from his / her technical background and strong interpersonal skills
• 2. Must have good verbal and written communication skills
• 3. Must be able to work independently and can also collaborate with a team to achieve business objective

Good understanding of Indian Patent Act would be an added advantage
