Job summary

3i Infotech in Chennai is hiring an Oracle DBA (L1 Support) to join our IT operations team. The role targets 0-2 years of hands-on Oracle database experience and familiarity with monitoring tools.

You will monitor availability, performance, and capacity; handle first-level incidents; manage RMAN backups; and assist with basic recovery under senior guidance. Interview mode is F2F in the 2nd half.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in Oracle database administration.
• Familiarity with Oracle database monitoring and incident management.
• Knowledge of RMAN backups and basic recovery activities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Oracle databases for availability, performance, and capacity.
• Log and escalate incidents and service requests via ITSM tools.
• Monitor and validate RMAN backups and review backup reports.
• Create, modify, and manage Oracle database user accounts and access.
• Perform routine DBA tasks including start/stop and patch support.
• Track tablespace and space usage with regular reports.

We are currently hiring for an Oracle DBA (L1 Support) role and would like to share the key responsibilities associated with the position.

Key Responsibilities

Database Monitoring & Alerting

• Monitor Oracle databases for availability, performance, and capacity using tools such as Zabbix, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), or similar monitoring solutions.
• Respond to database alerts and notifications, ensuring timely escalation to L2/L3 support teams when required.
• Perform daily monitoring of tablespace utilization, alert logs, and trace files.

Incident & Service Request Management

• Handle first-level incidents and service requests related to Oracle databases.
• Log, track, and update tickets through ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or equivalent platforms.
• Ensure incidents and requests are resolved or escalated within defined SLA timelines.

Backup & Recovery

• Monitor and validate daily RMAN backup jobs.
• Review backup success/failure reports and lift issues as needed.
• Assist with basic database recovery activities under the guidance of senior DBA teams.

User & Access Management

• Create, modify, and disable Oracle database user accounts based on approved requests.
• Manage user roles, privileges, and password resets.
• Ensure all access provisioning activities comply with established security policies and standards.

Routine DBA Activities

• Perform database instance start/stop activities as per approved change requests.
• Support patch implementation under the guidance of L2/L3 DBAs.
• Assist in database refresh and cloning activities.
• Maintain and update database documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.

Performance & Space Management

• Monitor tablespace growth and disk space utilization, providing regular reports.
• Raise alerts for space threshold breaches and coordinate resolution activities.
• Conduct basic performance checks on long-running queries and database sessions.
