About this opportunity: Couchbase Database Administrator. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the architecture, deployment, management, and optimization of our critical Couchbase database environments. You will play a key role in ensuring the high availability, performance, and scalability of our data infrastructure, with a particular focus on deployments within Kubernetes.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage highly available, scalable, and performant Couchbase clusters on Kubernetes clusters/Container platforms in production and non-production environments.
- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
- Implement and manage robust backup and recovery strategies for Couchbase.
- Monitor Couchbase health, performance, and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning for Couchbase.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) for database metrics.
- Manage user access, security, and data encryption for Couchbase.
- Troubleshoot complex Couchbase-related incidents, performing root cause analysis.
- Lead Life Cycle Management for Couchbase DB product.
- Lead projects in the DB space.
- Plan, design, execution, monitoring, and control, drive the closure, articulate project stages, resolve dependencies, etc.
Qualifications
- OCP 11g & 12c Oracle Certified Professional along with IT Graduation/Master’s degree.
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing highly available, scalable, and performant Couchbase clusters on Kubernetes clusters/Container platforms in production and non-production environments.
- Oracle 10g, 11g, 12c, 18C, 19C versions knowledge.
- Performance tuning (optimizing queries, instance tuning).
- Upgrade knowledge on Oracle database upgrade from 12c to 19c and 11g to 12c.
- Installation, configuration, and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products (clients, RAC 2 nodes, stand alone).
- Good understanding of RAC (2 nodes or 3 nodes) and its services.
- Understanding Active/Passive, Active-Active (ASM and Veritas Cluster).
- Good knowledge of physical database design.
- Understanding of the underlying operating system (Windows, Unix, Linux, Solaris & AIX).
- Experience with common OS commands to check server load (top, topas, sar, vmstat).
- Partitioning (partition tables and its type understanding Range, Hash etc.) and partition pruning.
- Indexing (local and global index, its benefits and drawbacks).
- Worked on heavy databases 100+ TB (filesystem and ASM).
- Adding Disk in ASM and adding datafiles in RAC, tempfiles etc.
- Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures (RMAN backup, Level0, level1, level2 & logical backup exports).
- Different backup and recovery scenarios understanding through RMAN.
- Restoration backup (point in time recovery, control file restoration, datafile restoration).
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring – plan changing understanding, how to fix plan.
- Perform application tuning and performance monitoring.
- Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required (weekend supports, shifting working).
- Constraints understanding (PK, FK, un etc..).
- MOS SR raising, TFA generation, logs checking cluster, ASM, scan listener etc.
- Patch management (patching single node and RAC two node, three nodes).
