Select suitable display technology: TN / VA / TFT and other latest industry technologies. Positive mode–Monochrome LCD, Negative mode –Monochrome & Color LCD, Color segment with Gradient effect in LCD, Transmissive / Transflective. Define backlight architecture (LED type, light guide, diffuser, brightness uniformity). Select suitable design architecture (Design + Material + Process) which will meet the Environmental & Reliability Test conditions.
-
Optical Performance Engineering
Evaluate and validate the optical performance through virtual simulation / physical measurements: Brightness uniformity, Ghost image / color patches / mura, Reflection, glare, and readability under sunlight, Display readability under Day mode & Night mode conditions. Ensure compliance with: OEM optical requirements, Day / Night mode performance. Work closely with suppliers.
-
Electrical & Interface Integration
Support interface definition and validation: RGB, LVDS, MIPI-DSI. Coordinate with HW teams for: Power sequencing, Backlight driver selection, EMI / EMC robustness, Validate display timing parameters and signal integrity.
-
Mechanical & Industrial Design Interface
Coordinate with mechanical team for: Display mounting, Stack-up tolerance, Support lens, mask, and light-shield design to avoid: Light leakage, Uneven illumination.
-
Environmental & Reliability Validation
Plan and execute display-related tests: Thermal cycle / thermalshock, High temperature & humidity, Vibration with temperature exposure, EMI / EMC, ESD. Analyze failures such as: Polarizer cracking / degradation, LCD mura growth, Backlight degradation.
-
Supplier & Manufacturing Support
Technical interface with display suppliers for: DFM / DFA, Process capability (Cp/Cpk). Support pilot build and mass production: Incoming quality issues, End-of-line optical defects, Drive cost, yield, and quality improvements.
