Job summary

Siemens Gamesa is seeking a senior structural engineer to provide in‑service engineering support for wind turbine nacelles. You will resolve field issues, perform structural analyses, and ensure data integrity within product data management systems.

The role emphasizes collaboration with design, quality, manufacturing, and service teams to implement robust engineering solutions and improve support processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural/Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8–10 years of experience in structural analysis or engineering in operations/support roles.
  • Experience with Ansys Mechanical/Workload/Workench (Workbench) and simulations.
  • Experience in operational support or in‑service engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve structural non-conformities and field issues related to wind turbine nacelles.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis for structural component failures or performance deviations.
  • Provide timely technical dispositions to support manufacturing, installation, and service teams.
  • Conduct structural calculations and simulations to validate repair solutions and minor design changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational support processes and workflows to increase efficiency.

A Snapshot of Your Day

You will ensure business continuity within the Operations Support team, part of the Nacelles Product Data Management organization. The role provides dedicated structural engineering support for in‑service wind turbine operations, ensuring product integrity and operational reliability. Your work will focus on resolving field issues, improving support processes, maintaining technical documentation and data integrity, and collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders to implement robust engineering solutions.

Operational Support & Process Improvement (70%)
  • Analyze and resolve structural non‑conformities and field issues related to wind turbine nacelles.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis for structural component failures or performance deviations.
  • Provide timely technical dispositions to support manufacturing, installation, and service teams.
  • Conduct structural calculations and simulations to validate repair solutions and minor design changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of operational support processes and workflows to increase efficiency.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Quality Assurance (20%)
  • Collaborate with design, quality, manufacturing, and service teams to implement effective structural solutions.
  • Communicate technical findings, risks, and recommendations through structured reports and presentations.
Technical Documentation & Data Management (10%)
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation for structural solutions and repair methodologies.
  • Ensure system data integrity and proper documentation within product data management tools.
What You Bring
  • Strong background in structural engineering with proven analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently on difficult (but not overly complex) technical challenges with general supervision.
  • Cooperative, solution‑oriented mindset and strong stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Experience in an operational support or in‑service engineering environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically, 8–10 years of professional experience in structural analysis or engineering, preferably in operational or product support roles.
  • Ansys Mechanical / Workbench.
  • Structural analysis and simulation.
  • Python, MATLAB, or other coding tools (added advantage).
