Job summary

Quest Global in Bengaluru seeks an experienced Senior FEA Engineer to lead finite element analyses for turbomachinery components. You will perform complex meshing, model setup, and multi-physics analyses, while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires extensive experience with ANSYS (Workbench/APDL), UG NX, and scripting, with emphasis on high-quality validation and documentation. Join a team delivering engineering solutions for global clients.

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of FEA experience with ANSYS in turbomachinery.
  • Proficient in ANSYS library, material models, and APDL scripting.
  • Experience with UG NX, SpaceClaim or Design Modeller is preferred.
  • Experience with ASME BPV Sec VIII code is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and mentor others.

Responsibilities

  • Perform FE modeling and meshing of complex structures with 1D/2D/3D elements.
  • Set up models including materials, boundary conditions, loads and contacts.
  • Carry out static, transient, harmonic and buckling analyses; assess fatigue and creep where relevant.
  • Evaluate bolt/weld joints and validate results with stakeholders.
  • Mentor new joiners and lead program-level initiatives.

Job Description
  • Candidate needs to be proficient in FE meshing of complex structure using 1D, 2D, & 3D elements. Needs to be proficient in creating hexahedral, tetrahedral, and combined mesh with transition in ANSYS/NX CAE. Hypermesh meshing experience will be added advantage.
  • Needs to be proficient with model set-up including but not limited to, material, boundary condition, load, & contact application in ANSYS. Needs to have expertise in linear & non-linear modeling.
  • Needs to be proficient in static & transient thermal, structural and modal analyses. Needs to have good work experience in harmonic and buckling analyses.
  • Needs to be proficient in bolt/weld joint assessment.
  • Needs to be proficient in fatigue (LCF and HCF) analysis. And needs to have good work experience in thermo-mechanical fatigue, fracture mechanics and creep analyses.
  • Needs to validate the results and document the assessment along with results summary and conclusion.
  • Needs to participate in internal & external reviews and present the assessment to stakeholders.
  • Needs to mentor and train new joiners and less experienced engineers.
  • Need to take lead in team building & program level initiatives
Required Skills And Experience
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals especially in solid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, theory of failure, and finite element methods.
  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Mechanical engineering or equivalent with 8 to 12 years of experience in finite element analysis (FEA) using ANSYS (Workbench & APDL) in preferably turbomachinery (Gas & steam turbine) domain.
  • Proficient with ANSYS Element library, material models, and APDL scripting. Working experience with ACT, and python scripting will be added advantage.
  • Proficient in UG NX modeling, model clean-up, and modification using spaceclaim or design modeller
  • Good experience in free body diagram and hand calculation.
  • Experience in performing strength assessment as per ASME BPV Sec VIII Code. Experience with Euro codes will be added advantage.
  • Should be able to work independently and guide others. Should be able to provide design suggestion and alternate solutions.
