Position Summary

The PYP Coordinator (PYPC) will serve as the pedagogical leader and academic anchor for the Primary Section at the school. The role calls for a strategic blend of instructional leadership, curriculum expertise, and professional development facilitation, working closely with school leadership and teachers to ensure effective delivery of the Cambridge, ICSE, and IGCSE curriculum framework for the Primary Years.

The PYPC will act as a mentor, coach, and facilitator in building a high-impact academic culture across the Primary Section.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Leadership

• Lead and oversee curriculum implementation across the Primary Section (Nursery to Grade 5).
• Ensure alignment of academic planning with Cambridge, ICSE, and IGCSE standards and the school's vision.
• Manage curriculum development, review cycles, and mapping processes.
• Monitor and review fidelity of curriculum delivery, ensuring systematic planning, reinforcement, and revision.

Instructional Support

• Facilitate collaborative planning sessions and mentor teachers in effective, inquiry-based teaching practices.
• Promote best practices in concept-driven instruction and authentic assessment strategies.
• Support teachers through classroom observations, feedback, and lesson planning guidance.

Academic Compliance & Documentation

• Serve as the key academic liaison between the school and the relevant examination boards (Cambridge, ICSE, and IGCSE).
• Ensure all academic documentation, practices, and records are up to date for board audits and evaluations.
• Lead self-study and review processes, and prepare the Primary Section for board inspections.

Professional Development

• Design and conduct training sessions, workshops, and ongoing PD programs for staff.
• Identify faculty development needs and recommend/coordinate relevant training programs.
• Promote action research, reflective practice, and continuous learning among teachers.

Leadership & Administration

• Coordinate with leadership and administration to align academic planning with school vision and board requirements.
• Provide input on budget planning related to curriculum and professional development.
• Supervise the Primary academic team in a dotted-line capacity under the guidance of the Head of School.
• Stay updated on academic resources and board updates to inform program development.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

• Organize parent orientation sessions to build awareness and understanding of the Primary curriculum framework.
• Collaborate with support staff and academic teams to enhance the student experience.
• Contribute to special projects, both internal and external, to strengthen the school's academic profile.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a relevant field.
• 5–10 years of experience in primary education, including 2–3 years in a coordinator or academic leadership role.
• Strong grasp of Cambridge, ICSE, and IGCSE curriculum frameworks, unit planning, and assessment criteria.
• Proven experience in teacher mentoring, team leadership, and curriculum planning.

Preferred:

• Experience as a PYP Coordinator, Primary Coordinator, or Academic Coordinator.
• Experience with board audits, inspections, or accreditation visits.
• Familiarity with inclusive education, student agency, and digital integration in the classroom.
