Job summary

GIIS Borivali is seeking a dedicated PYP Coordinator to lead the implementation and ongoing development of the IB Primary Years Programme across the primary school.

The ideal candidate mentors teachers, strengthens inquiry-based learning, and ensures alignment with IB standards and practices, collaborating with the Principal and academic leadership for curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Education or related field.
• 5–8+ years teaching experience, ideally in an IB PYP setting.
• Experience as PYP Coordinator, Lead or Curriculum Coordinator preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IB PYP standards and inquiry-based learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the implementation of the IB PYP across the primary school.
• Guide teachers in inquiry-based, concept-driven and transdisciplinary learning.
• Facilitate collaborative planning, curriculum mapping and Units of Inquiry reviews.
• Support teachers in developing assessment strategies and documentation.
• Mentor, coach and develop teachers through observations and feedback.
• Promote student agency and international-mindedness.
• Monitor curriculum implementation and identify areas for improvement.
• Work with Principal and leadership on curriculum development.
• Coordinate PYP documentation, policies and IB requirements.
• Support IB authorization, evaluation and programme development.
• Conduct workshops for teachers and parents to strengthen PYP understanding.

Role Overview

PYP Coordinator to lead the effective implementation and continuous development of the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The ideal candidate will be a collaborative instructional leader who can mentor teachers, strengthen inquiry-based learning and ensure alignment with IB standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the implementation of the IB PYP across the primary school.
• Guide teachers in inquiry-based, concept-driven and transdisciplinary learning.
• Facilitate collaborative planning, curriculum mapping and review of Units of Inquiry.
• Support teachers in developing effective assessment strategies and documentation.
• Mentor, coach and develop teachers through observations, feedback and professional learning.
• Promote student agency, learner profile attributes and international-mindedness.
• Monitor curriculum implementation and identify areas for continuous improvement.
• Work closely with the Principal and academic leadership team on curriculum and school development.
• Coordinate PYP documentation, policies and IB-related requirements.
• Support the school during IB authorization, evaluation and programme development processes.
• Conduct workshops and orientation sessions for teachers and parents to strengthen understanding of the PYP.
• Foster a collaborative, reflective and inclusive professional learning community.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Education or a relevant discipline.
• 5-8+ years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB PYP school.
• Prior experience as a PYP Coordinator, PYP Lead or Curriculum Coordinator is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of IB PYP standards, practices and approaches to teaching and learning.
• IB PYP workshop/training certification is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in teacher mentoring, curriculum leadership and professional development.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills.
