Job summary

Paras Health is seeking a Lab Quality Manager to lead NABL/NABH compliant quality systems in the laboratory. You will ensure resources, staffing, training, and supplier/referral lab evaluation while maintaining safe, compliant operations.

You will oversee reporting accuracy, data analysis for continual improvement, and participation in hospital ethics and statutory committees, including Blood Bank oversight, ensuring service continuity in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Establish, implement and maintain quality management system in laboratory per NABL/NABH.
• Correspondence with NABL Secretariat and completing documentation for regional CMO office.
• Ensure resources like equipment, reagents, control material, calibrators for department.
• Ensure adequate manpower with required qualification and experience.
• Identify training needs and plan competency development for staff.
• Select and evaluate suppliers for lab materials and services (calibrating agencies).
• Select and evaluate referral laboratories.
• Create a safe laboratory environment following good practices and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure timely reporting of lab results with interpretation and guidance for further testing.
• Analyse data for continual improvement (pre-analytic phase, QC, EQA, clinician/patient feedback).
• Sign lab reports and revalidate borderline results.
• Modify/test procedures, SOPs, or reference ranges as needed.
• Address staff and user complaints, suggestions, and requests for lab services.
• Design contingency plans to maintain essential services during emergencies.
• Review in-house and referral lab services; adjust scope as needed.
• Budgeting and costing for lab tests and equipment.
• Member of Hospital Ethics committee and statutory committee.
• Monitor Blood Bank operations.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Establish, implement and maintain quality management system in laboratory in accordance with NABL/ NABH.


• Correspondence with NABL Secretariat, completing documentation requirements of regional CMO office etc

• Ensure availability of resources /material to accomplish the tasks and functioning of the department. Eg equipment, Reagents , control material, calibrators etc


• Ensure adequate manpower with required qualification and experience.

• Identify training needs of staff members and plan program for competency development of staff

• Selection & evaluation of suppliers wrt to lab material & services eg. Calibrating agencies


• Selection and evaluation of referral laboratories


• Create safe laboratory environment in compliance with good practices and applicable regulatory requirements like state pollution board guidelines

• Ensure correct & timely Reporting of laboratory results with interpretation and advice on further testing or choice of examination as appropriate

• Analysing the data collected; for continual improvement. Eg monitoring of pre analytic phase, LJ graphs of Internal controls, EQA reports, Clinicians & patient feedback etc

• Signing of lab reports & revalidating the test results on borderline.

• To modify / make change in test procedure , SOP , reference range , etc


• Address complaints, suggestions, requests from staff members and user of lab services


• Design and implement contingency plan in such a way that essential services are not compromised in emergency situation

• Review of laboratory services offered in house and through referral laboratories and make required changes in the scope of services

• Budgeting & costing wrt to lab tests & equipment


• Member of Hospital Ethics committee & statutory committee


• Monitoring of Blood Bank operations
